No. The chassy codes just refer to what options the cars had.
2020 Miata Club - BBS package
2020 GMC Sierra Elevation Duramax
2014 Exomotive Exocet - #101 "shocker yellow" - sold :(

99 Solano Black VR4 - #16 of 287 - ground up restoration - sold :(

gotcha....one is stronger than the other due to structural changes up top is what you are saying?
Actually, no. A lot of people think that though. If you ever look at a non-sunroof 3S with the headliner removed, there's no bracing in the middle of the roof at all. Just the bottom side of the outer sheet metal. If anything, the sunroof cars might be a little stronger due to having more structure up top.

I am going to venture a guess that all of the nuts, bolts, screws, small hardware, and gaskets would total $15,000 alone from a dealer. Anybody want to total that up for us? I think you would be lucky if you can rebuild a VR4 with parts from a dealer for anywhere near $60k. My guess is that it would be just a hair under $70,000 at dealership prices.

It would be a blast to get a run down VR4 and strip it to nothing and completely build it up. [/quote]

To answer the question about the chassis codes there were three chassis used for the 3s.
  1. Z11A-Front Wheel Drive
  2. Z15A-AWD without AWS (our 95-96 Stealth Turbos, JDM MR cars and JDM NA AWD Cars)
  3. Z16A-AWD & AWS cars (every single 3000GT issued a VIN in the US used this chassis.)

even if the car were still being made it would cost at least 3x to build it from parts.
