This has became very annoying

A little over a month ago the fan shroud on my Flex-A-Lite fans came unglued and was sucked up into the drivers side fan, causing the fan to rip it self off of its post, burn out both fan motors, and tear my radiator up pretty good.

Just dumb luck for me, I pulled the car over into a parking lot and got a ride back home. I went back at night and drove her home when traffic was light so I could run safely without fans.

First up I called up Jeff at IPS (I bought the fans from him) and asked his opinion. He called up FAL and got back in touch with me the same day with a name and number. He told me they should take care of it and now know of the situation. I called up Michele with FAL and everything was going fine. I send her pictures with an account of what happened. I was then given a form to fill out for their official reviews board.

Then I heard nothing back for over a week, so I called up Michelle left a message (this was two Fridays ago), she e-mailed me back letting me know that the claims committee would be meeting next week to review my case. Mind you this is now over 3 weeks since this first started.

So I wrote her
"Michelle,

To be honest every day this is prolonged is a day without my car being
drivable. I understand that defects can and will happen in the manufacturing
process, I also understand freak accidents. This is why in my claim I'm only
asking for replacement fans, and a new radiator purchased at my discounted
rate. Which is more than $200 less than retail, I am not claiming labor, nor
down time, I had done this because you and your company have always handled
this situation with respect and good character.

My car has now been sitting in my garage for three weeks. Please, if there
is anyway to speed up this process, I am willing to help.

To which she responded

"John,
I am sorry, I would love to be able to just send you the product,
unfornutley we have a process and I must follow this procedure. We are

Okay fair enough, this was last Friday. So a whole week went by where they were supposed to give their verdict. I called on Monday getting her voice mail.

It has now been over a month. This is really frustrating. I just want to get my car back on the road. :mad:

That is piss poor service right there John. The fact you can smile about it says alot about your patience. I know it's a long shot, but can Jeff help speed this up at all? Can he send you what you need since you bought the gear from him?

It is very annoying. I'm going to try and get into contact again tomorrow. If I hear nothing I'll be calling up IPS and seeing if they can possible lend me a hand in the situation. If anything at least call up as a vendor. Maybe they can find out a little more.

Haha, though I think not giving Michelle the ride of her life and keeping Tiffany is more important than replacement parts. Though I like that you're thinking out side of the box. Good work. I see upper management written all over you. :)


The problem is, where I can afford to fix my car, I really can't afford to fix my car. I'm on a fixed budget right now and new fans and a radiator, especially after I just built my new computer is suicidal for me financially right now. I don't own credit cards, so that is out of the question as well.

Grumble, grumble piss and moan. :lol:

John - you've already waited long enough without a result. Call Jeff. He's a good (not that I need to tell you that) & I'm sure he'll be more than happy to get on the phone and kick ass, or atleast try and get something happening for you. I'm the king of holding off and holding off. You know you need to do this now. ;)

After over a month of waiting and quite a bit of paper work FAL has come out solid IMO.

They honored their warranty against manufactures defect and have replaced my fans and paid for a new radiator.

The fans came in on the 22nd and the check came in the mail today.

I was in contact with the same claims person from day one (Thank you Jeff from IPS for putting me in touch with her) and always knew what was going on. Even though most of the time was waiting for the next step.

Either way everything is settled and FAL stood by their product, IMO that is what makes a good company. \

She will be back on the road and boosting this week. :cool:

Now I'm definitely going to get a FAL for the Ford. I've been needing a new fan, and I've been considering going with an electric fan instead of the crank driven fan.
