If anyone spent $65k on a 3/S over a C6 Z06 they either have too much money, don't give a shit about performance, or consist of "super fanboy status" like the dudes who paid that kinda coin for Supras a couple years back...except those Supras actually are fast

I'm sorry to all of you that think what he is asking is over the top. I've been on with him throughout his entire build. He didn't nickel and dime everything. If you research enough, you will see the immense amount of time, effort and money that went into the build (from the chassis/frame up.)
There's a lot of custom (you will never see on another 3/S) parts that he had made just for him. Nuts, bolts, interior, seats, CF parts, Stack meter, other guages, gaskets and seals, entire paint job, engine build, and I'm sure with all the other lists of things, you can easily tally up about 65k. Oh, almost forgot. Cost of labor. Yup, then you're there.

im not doubting that it cost him 65k i just dont see him getting anywhere near what he has into it. custom shit or not.
rule #1 of selling a car. dont expect to get back what you put into it.

I can see it happen. He has the patience to wait until someone comes up with what he wants for it.

I guess the ice age will come back eventually and then we will ALL need awd sports cars.
I hope he gets 65k for it, gives us all resale hope.

I don't think patience is an issue...why on earth would anyone fork over $65k cash lump sum???

Like I said, I could see paying 65k if you never picked up a wrench and did your own work. I still think he got ripped off.
As far as all this custom stuff you talk about, I really don't see it, other than that over-rated Stack cluster and the hype-tastic Bride seats.
It's a nice car. A
very nice car. But it is not $65,000 nice. It's not even $40,000 nice.
Just look around at what $65,000 buys you these days. Even if you're absolutely rabid about 3000GTs, there's so much more that $65k would buy you in a totally custom built 3S. If you're not, there's a LOT of other VERY nice cars, many that are brand new and have warranties.

Jay's car is beautiful. There is no other way to describe it. But $65k? That's a hell of a lot of money for a 13 year old car with I want to say 80k miles. I hope he can get it, but I just don't see that happening.
Its really a shame to see that he is selling it.

Also, for $65k he REALLY ought to fix the hood.

I dont think patience has anything to do with it either. Hell I have the patience to post my car for an ungodly amount of money and wait until someone buys it. I have that patience because I dont want to sell it and know no one would pay what I would want.
30k will get you my nice 93 BPU VR-4. If you count in labor rates + parts + cost thats a steal.

When I talked to him at ECG about the hood he said he had a new one on the way.

You forget just how much balls Jays car has. What was it 530awhp on a pump tune? So it already has more performance, and the car is a one of a kind.

More performance
than what? I guarantee you it will not beat a C6Z at any type of objective performance competition you care to name, other than a dyno shootout.

I was just speaking numbers wise. c6 z06 puts down what 425? Jays is putting 100 more to the ground on a pump tune.

I'm pretty sure they've only done one wiring harness re-wire, and that was on Omar's '98 that was in the article.

Oh, now I remember - the previous owner, Scott, had put white Volks on that car. Omar got rid of them when he bought it. That's probably why you're confused.

Like gate said...it might win a dyno (Z06 puts closer to 470 btw). but when it comes down to real world performance, the Z06 (and quite a few other cars) will run all over it.
My idea of "proven performance" was not a car that has shaky run times, impressive dyno numbers, and is notorious for being the "black sheep" when it comes to any sort of real ass kicking. Believe me, I really like the 3/S, but I'm not delusional
