Stealthee, the first vid you sent, the quality was awesome. 2nd vid (10.05) quality wasn't great. Any way you can send it the same way you did before?

Never mind. Looks like it may have been my phone's connection. I looked at it again and it's clear now.

Let me know. If Google Drive compressed it too much I can try to send again the way I sent the first.
The Facebook experts haven't said a peep on my timeslip post.

I'm just glad we had fun and the car hit the 9 as I had expected. Made it more fun was that it was the first pass. Had I not turned up the boost it would have just kept clicking off 9.9-10.0.
You've put in a lot of hard work and time. Glad to see it finally paying off for you.

Thank you sir!

I'm going to try to make my intercooler piping connections more robust before an Import Face Off event in STL on 9/18. Will be fun for some heads up racing and also try to move up the 3S quicklist a bit. Lots of work travel and also moving into a different home so I might not get it done in time. But that's the goal.

What type of couplings and clamps do you use now? I know Matt M swore by stainless steal worm clamps. I've always just thought about those wire ties. Of course if money isn't an option those screw in ones that Nelson has are the tits.

4 ply silicone and t bolt.

One side just needs a longer pipe out of the intercooler. The clamp was around the pipe lip. Hot side, I'm not sure why it came off. That was on very, very well. May need to look at vband on that side.

Nobody is debating that it's fast. But in the body it was meant for, it'd be faster. It's like the opposite of what you did with your Exocet. By this logic, it seems like you wasted your money. You should have dropped that Miata engine into a Corvette body.

Of course it would be quicker in a lighter car. But the thing is, it's quicker than all but 5-6 3Ss, ever. Quicker than some guys like Trevor and Adam that you can't say didn't put a ton of effort into going fast at the drag strip.

I can't help but wonder what it would do in a dsm as well. Just out of sheer curiosity.

I do love how many more people put way more work into their 3/s and never get that speed though.

Adam at one point just put on adapter plates and used 14b's. I think he had stock intercoolers and got on the top 10 list. So it seems our cars can get to a certain level very easy and then after that it's very hard to get much faster.

For better or worse, they all kept 6G7 engines. The only car I can think of that's a reasonable comparison to yours is VR440.

Actually the Z06 with Z07 package is pretty damn close to the C7.R.

No I believe the logic is to swap in a motor that performs better but nice try. ;)

So let me get this straight. I get told how stupid of an idea it is to put a small engine into a big car because the lack of torque won't get it moving and now, my car shouldn't be compared to a 6g72 and should be compared to a tubed front half, big block hemi with a supercharger? Maybe I'm not understanding your point. Oh, and set up the race, I'm game. :D

You can use various online calculators to get a very good idea. My car weighs 3300. Depending on which calculator, or using ET or trap, it comes out to around 650-680hp at 34p-35psi. A DSM of similar weight reduction would be around 500lbs less. The race cars are 1000lbs or more less than my car. Less weight will also 60ft better. That would take a DSM with a similar setup into the 8's.

My turbo through the auto in my car should have enough to get me into the low 9's. That's bench racing though since I don't know what problems I run into to get there.

I know when my friend with a pretty lightweight DSM made 699 AWHP he was in the low 9's. He made a few changes and last I knew had broke into a 8.9 or something.

I don't know for sure but I would bet his car is around 2500 lbs though. It is a "semi-famous" car that he bought off Curt Brown as a shell a few years back.

He was also auto and I think his 8.9 run was a 1.3 or 1.4 60'
