Actually I'd probably get a Z06, cause of maint. costs but who's counting.

Did you guys see the $250 oil change for this thing?

• Schedule Point Check Maintenance: 5,000 JPY ($43 USD) - undertray multi point check

• Car Inspection: 200,000 JPY ($1727 USD)

• Oil Change: 25,000 JPY ($216 USD) - 100% synthetic oil

• Oil + Oil Element Change: 29,000 JPY ($250 USD) - include oil cooler service + undertray multi point check

• Transmission & Differential Oil Change: 100,000 JPY ($864 USD) - include undertray multi point check

• Brake Pad Change (all 4): 400,000 JPY ($3500 USD) - pad change + rotor service

• Tire Change (all 4): 460,000 JPY ($4000 USD) - specially developed 20" run flat tires

Wow....$4000???

I had just about the best tires money can buy as fr as handling goes on my Z06 and they only cost $315/ea and another $15 to install...

$3500 brake change? I hope that's for Carbon Ceramic brakes and 24k gold brake lines.

Shit, for those kind of maint. costs you'd be better off getting a porsche. At least you get a more prestigious name to go along with the car.

I've been following GTR news on several boards, and I've got to say we've had some of the most civil and intelligent discussion on the matter.

Hand built VR38 V6
Hand built dual-sequential clutch paddle shifted auto
473hp / 434 lb-ft

It's got a partial underbody aero tray too.

Forget the Corvette comparisons. I'm now officially impressed. This thing has got a hell of a lot of equipment for the price.

The Vette is a totally different kind of car, so while there will be some very valid performance comparisons, I think they're going to appeal to two very different types of drivers.

I'm pretty excited about the official Nissan press releases in a few days.

Yeah, this is a GT car now, not a sports car.

What they need to do is follow Porsches lead and make a GT3 model...something that is stripped out and 700lbs lighter.

I was really hoping for a sports car, but this is going to be a good competitor to the Porsche and whatever Honda puts out for a sports car.

From what we've been told about the nissan dual clutch gear box should be very similar to the Audi.

The 32, 33 and 34 were really GTs too. The Vette is more of a sports car.

It's basically a manual transmission with two wet clutches. One clutch engages the current gear, and the next clutch engages the next gear up or down (not sure how the logic knows you're going to chose the next higher gear or the next lower gear). When you hit the paddle, the trans just releases one clutch and engages the other instead of actually selecting a new gear.

If I were to guess, I would say it preselects the next gear based on pedal position. i.e. Someone on the gas is more likely to shift up and someone on the brakes is more likely to shift down kinda thing.

Here's an interesting thought...

What's one of the first things you replace when you increase the power output of just about any performance car?

The clutch.

Anyone want to hazard a guess at how much it'll cost to not only purchase an upgraded dual-clutch setup, but have it installed and then reflash the trans controller to compensate.....IF it's even possible?

I'd say it'd would start at around ~3-4K for just the clutch and maybe the controller flash as well. No labor.

This thing is not meant to modded by any means. Then again, neither were our cars . I wish they had a true manual option for this car. Maybe in the next few years.

The transmission is in the back

Does this sound stupid to anyone else? It makes sense for a low slung, RWD sports car like a Corvette or a Ferrari.

But this thing is a taller, AWD car.

It has one shaft running back from the engine to the trans, and then another shaft running from the trans up to the front differential.

Weight balance? ...it's AWD, but moving the transmission to the back at least puts more weight there

I don't think stupid, I like, Porsche 924/944 style. Just gets the car better 50/50 weight distribution and also lower center of gravity a little.

The driveshafts though are just extra weight to get it to its 3/S figure, if they're not carbon fiber stock.

I think Subaru has the most ideal AWD car setup for drivetrain.

The main driveshaft is CF. Not sure about the one that drives the front wheels.

Was the Porsche 928 ever offered in AWD? Like I said, I totally get it for RWD cars. But having two long ass shafts running down the middle of the car just seems wasteful.

No 928 AWD. 924/944/968/928 were RWD with tranny in the rear.

I'm sure it's a bit wasteful in drivetrain loss, but shafts weigh hardly anything most of the time and having the extra 150+lbs in the back probably helps
