It's running fine, but the other night, I was sitting, warming the GTO up. I thought I would try my lighter out. (no idea why, I never use it) It doesn't stay down when you push it so I held on to it. About 10 seconds later, the car just died. As tho it was out of fuel. All the lights in the dash were on. I turned the car off completely, then she started back up no worries at all. :d ontknow: Possible short somewhere?

On the Internet they say, "You never get this! You never get this!" But then one day they all met in Cali and they get this.

shouldnt be a short the lighter and the accessory 12v source by the cruise switch are both on a fuse that has nothing to do with anything else. However I would definitely pull the fuse and see if there is any power to the outlet with the key on. With the fuse out you should have nothing, if you show anything then you do have a short. As well you can use a multimeter to test continuity to see if there is a short between the lighter and the fuse location. The lighter wiring is tiny and will overheat under any large draw. A draw large enough to kill the car should have severely damaged the wiring. Take it from a guy who had his radar detector melt internally from the summer heat resulting in a short that heated the wires and popped the fuse.

sounds familiar to me. happened to a mirage of a coworker. he wanted a light and pressed on his lighter. about a minute or so passes and his car dies. couldnt get it to start at all, just dead, all the dash lights come on. i think he had to replace his battery or a fuse. i dont remember exactly.
