Next time you change your oil....

Post by CHAN »

Put a coffe filter over your fill hole and pour your oil. Look at all the trash and small metal your putting into your engine with new oil. Cool trick I learned in school.

Sounds tricky...but I'll pour it through a filter into another container first.

What brand did you experience this with?

Worst was Penzoil out of 4 types same weight. Most just have trash in it,but some will have shavings. We done it with Penzoil, Mobile 1, Castrol, Quaker State. Mobil 1 was the cleanest, quaker was closest to that and castrol was 3rd.

Penzoil and Castrol Dino

Mobile and Quaker Synthetic

Wasnt as in depth as it could have been getting ALL the dino and synths but it was what we had around for us to use.

I wonder if there's anything that should be going in that is getting filtered out by doing that? I will try this on the saturn 1st.....since that's the only running car I have right now. :)

Auto paint supply stores also have extreme fine (I can't remember how many microns thick) paper cone filters used for pouring paint from mixing cup to gun, they give those out free to customers.

Those would be my 1st choice, but about like a coffee filter.
