After a few weeks of cancellations because of insufficient ice, AMEC (the organizing body I race with) had its first event of the season up in Wells, NY on Sunday. It was a really short course (7/10 of a mile, about half the length they usually are), and by mid-afternoon 2 of the corners had really bad puddles to make things even more interesting.
We got awesome starting positions (3rd and 4th) for the first race. By the end of the day we had been passed by some guys that have been doing it for years and have won the whole thing in years past, but we're still right in the thick of things. Not too bad considering some of the people ahead of us trailer their cars to the races and we're competing in the same shitboxes we drive every day.
