I have been planning on selling the vr-4 for a while now, but I was going to wait until I got back from my business trip. Well, since it's canceled, I guess I can start looking now. Here is what I'm looking at:

Image

2008 Nissan Xterra 4x4. I have always liked them, and I am looking for an SUV that I can get stuff done with out here. Anyways, just wanted to see what you guys thought about them, or other similar vehicles if you think one is better. :)

I like the Xterras, one of the few SUVs being made now that you can actually use as an SUV.

I know this is a semi-useful statement but every single car these days has excellent build quality. I'd be more concerned with it 8+ years. My Suzuki Grand Vitara is consider a low end SUV and it's flawless. Never ever given me a problem. Feels brand new and it has 21K on it 2 years later.

I really like the smaller Nissan Rougue but that's fine. Test drive a lot. A lot of different options out there. Kia launched a new SUV that's slick looking for 2008/2009 too.

I picked up a Honda Pilot when the Stealth started dying and the only reason I am not killing myself over it is that I got it $5K under blue book value with very low miles. I hate driving an SUV every day. Hate hate hate it. After the wedding I am most likely trading it in hah!

Moral of the story: Be absolutely sure you want to drive one every day before buying one.

My buddy has a 06 or so, its pretty capable compared to some others ive been in. Interior is ok but nothing fancy. Overall there is alot worse choices esp. considering price.

If you're gonna get a Nissan in that price range, get the Rogue. you can get an AWD model with HIDs, bluetooth and more for less than 26K

i've had SUV"s as my daily drivers since i started to drive...I think the BEST one i ever had was a Honda Passport on the small scale (had a small blazer 6cyl too..that thing was shit pure shit).., altho the trans went on it only after 10K on the clock...they replaced it for free obviously then gave me lifetime warrenty on the new driveline. My buddy bought an Xterra, he just had to dump 1200k into it for a buncha fuel problems after only 55k.

I had a 90's something pathfinder. With any car take care of it and it will in turn take care of you. My pathfinder was a speed demo calibration was off and apparently i was doing 90 in it when speed-o read 70. No issues I just did a bad move and sold it for what I bought it for. I think out of all the vehicles I had I miss my Pathfinder the most. Mainly because there was no weather that held me back, not even some ice on the roads cause id go off the road and drive.

P.S. Check out the new jeeps. 4 doors pretty nice. I did the offroad thing at the DC Auto show in one. Was a blast!

Rich guy I knew had lots of cars, 1 Xterra. I never heard any complaints, and I like them too.

- '99+ Grand Cherokees are sweet
- Newer Mitsu Montero Sport (my friend just bought an 03 instead of the Grand Cherokee he was thinking)

The Jeep Cherokee with the straight six is one of the most reliable, longest lasting, SUV's on the road. It is no problem for the engine and tranny to see well over 200k with only regular maintenance, and when something does go wrong, it is very EASY AND CHEAP to fix. Also, the Cherokee is VERY capable. I can't say much for the Grand Cherokees of Libertys though, I have only owned Wranglers and Cherokees.
