Can't find any new tires for my car! Help!

Sooo...I have a 2007 Honda S2000. Tires are as such (OEM settings):

Front: 215/45-17
Rear: 245/40-17

I need all 4 new tires for my car fairly shortly. My parents have graciously offered to buy tires for me, but they don't want to spend TOO much (I'd say $700-800 is the max, they would prefer less). Currently what I have on my car are Bridgestone RE050 - great in the dry, super sucky in the wet. And it's usually wet here. I've looked online at tirerack.com and they have lots to choose from, but most look to be pretty sucky. Damon has the Toyo Proxes T1R on his car, but a little too spendy for my parent's likings.

I was planning on getting the Bridgestone RE750, but they are on national backorder. Any ideas on good tires that I should look at getting?

I have the Toyo T1r's on the Vr4 loving them and they're well in your price range. And they come in the sizes you need

in that order. ive personally had the kumhos on my old VR4 and loved them. they lasted about 25k on my moms maxima with me autocrossing it 3 times (very nasty track too. known for eating a set of tires in 2 sessions)

im putting them third based on the tirerack survey data. though they are an excellent tire for the price....there are better out there.

knowing damon you may want to bump up to a 225/45/17 for the front to help with the understeer your car is known for. that and a half degree more neg camber should help alot.

Kumho MX aren't bad, but they kinda suck in the wet weather. I had them on a couple of cars. Good cheap dry tires though

Moff - need new tires on my car because I've driven +12,000 and the RE050s only last about 15k. They are already nearing the wear marks.

Steve - I think all those tires you listed are not good in the wet.

After looking around, I'm getting the Goodyear Eagle F1 All Season at OEM tire settings. They are supposed to be really good in the wet and dry and have a good wear rating on them. Damon was originally going to get them for his car after much research. Hopefully they will work out ok.

I'm getting them tomorrow afternoon. I'm sure Damon will steal them at some point to try them out so you'll get a chance to try them too, Steve.

I really like my Yokohama ES100's. They're in your price range too!
But they're summer tires, so perhaps they won't work out.... I don't know how much snow you typically get in Beaverton.

If your tire size isn't there on the list it doesn't mean that they don't make it in your size.

so all the tires i listed except the MX are better than the stock tires (ive never driven MXs in the wet )

though i have used the GSD3s...theyre reasonable...but when you have 500+ ft-lbs of torque to the rear wheels not many tires stick.

I have Potenza RE950's and I love them. They wear very slowly handle great in the dry and amazing in the wet. They suck balls in the snow though.

For the record, no tire wears very long on an S2000. Hyper-aggressive factory alignment specs eat tires like no other.

Since her parents are paying, ordering online and installing elsewhere wasn't really an option. They are old-fashioned folk who want everything done under one roof.

Hell, they already bitched about paying >$100 per tire.

The stock fitment (215/245) in the Eagle F1 A/S has only 1" of stagger front to back, so we'll see how they work out on her car before putting 225's on the front. I'm tempted to get a stiffer rear sway bar and just slap it under her car while she isn't looking.
