If you can have a slightly detuned turbo Lancer for less?

http://jalopnik.com/344161/detroit-auto ... r-ralliart

I may have just found my next DD after the TL. its essentially an Evo minus the expensive SAWD drivetrain, Brembo brakes and other non-DD friendly upgrades.

you still get Navi, the SST tranny, Recaros and (most likely) HIDs. sign me up :)

Eh, I wouldn't really want it if it's not AWD.

Uh, guys...
Ralliart is Mitsubishi's middle man between the Mitsubishi Lancer GTS and the Lancer EVO. The obvious rally-inspired Ralliart has a 2.0-liter, four cylinder engine sporting 235 horsepower, which is up 67 hp from the GTS, but not quite the 291 of the latest Evolution X has. It does feature Mitsubishi's dual-clutch SST automanual with paddle shifters and an active center differential to let you rally your little heart out in suburbia America. It is slated for a summer release.

More info and pics from Autoblog...

Mitsubishi has made up for the crimes it perpetrated on enthusiasts with the last two generations of the Lancer Ralliart. In atonement for its sins, it's fitted the new Ralliart with a detuned version of the 4B11T pulled from the Evolution X, producing 235 hp and an unknown amount of torque. Additionally, Mitsubishi has decided to fit the Twin Clutch-SST transmission, pulled from the high-power and high-priced Evo X MR. The TC-SST clicks off the shifts through a set of steering wheel mounted paddles and sends power to a full-time all-wheel-drive system equipped with Mitsubishi's Active Center Differential (ACD).
Looks like it might be a very impressive car. I wonder what they are going to do to detune it. Think we might luck out with the same mechanical parts, but with a different tune? Eh, I doubt it. But maybe we will get lucky and it will just be a matter of swapping ECUs and injectors.

Its the newest generation, its AWD, its turbo, .. its cheaper. Right on, buy and mod to your desire if thats your thing, but a good new EVO option.

There will always be something new... No sense in waiting.

my mistake, I didnt see the other article about it.

yes its AWD. very likely the same on the X, but maybe with some software differences. either way, why spend over 30K for the Evo when you can get basically the same thing for less? its not like a huge difference from the WRX to the STI - this one uses essentially the same engine (architecture shared with the Caliber SRT4), is on essentially the same chassis (again mechanically shared with the SRT4) and rides on a detuned Evo suspension (non Bilstein nor KYB shock absorbers as on the MR/regular X).

Cool to see that they're doing that then. I definitely wonder how it will sell.

I thought of that too, but then I stopped caring. I just hope they continue to kill mostly themselves rather than innocent by standers.

Depending upon how much cheaper it is than the regular EVO, it might make a heck of a DD...
