500$ down the drain

Post by moffman93' »

So i dropped my car off at a nearby mechanic to have my axle swapped out(torn boot, finally gave out) and to get it aligned because the place that did it last time did a shitty job. Normally I would do the axle swap but i just don't have the time or the tools so i said fuck it, i want it fixed. Turns out when they lifted the car up, one of the shocks dropped out. They said they needed to buy some plate or something that goes on the top of the shock. My mom told me this so she didnt exactly explain it well or use the correct terms. Terns out whatever part it is costs like 120$ or so. So between that, the alignment, and the axle swap, im out like 460$ or so. Wasnt expecting this at all. Good thing I have my vr4 savings lol.

idk sounded weird to me too. But my mom said the guy told her some plate on the top of the shocks gave out or something. Probably where it attaches to the strut tower. It can happen. I doubt it physically fell out to the floor. Probably just came lose from the top half where it connects to the strut tower. c

Upper strut mount probably broke. Same thing happened to me a few years ago.

McPherson struts FTL.

We do know how you like to be raped though.

Yeah, I was just wondering since he said "fell out" haha like it wasn't held in by anything at all and the wheel just flopped over

Ask to see the old part if you can before they fix it. I am always leary of mechanics...

I -always- ask for the old parts that they replaced and usually tend to be near when my car is being worked on. (I have trust issues...and my car is my baby.)

lol Oh trust me I will see the old part before I pay in full. I've been to this guy before though I doubt he would try to fuck me over. Yea im almost possitive the upper strut mount/plate broke. They have a MINT 97 vr4 in the back that I've seen there before so I know they can work on these cars. Plus if it was something complicated, I would either do it myself or bring it to Steve to do.

This "IPO Rounding" is much more serious than I first thought. Something needs to be done to stop this virus. :runaway:

:stupid:

Strut mount should cost under $50 per wheel. They would probably replace the both front mounts at the same time.

I was thinking about this earlier..could it be possible that they messed it up by not lifting it up properly? (Depends on what kind of lift they use for cars there.) I know you can break a lot of stuff if you don't place a jack correctly..even yourself...

I bet you find over $20 in change and a couple nugs of chronic, in between your seat cracks in the carpet etc. :D
Possibly some condom wrappers, missing bottles of anal lube, etc. Regular moff stuff.
