i also prefer the 5 speed. especially after driving it again.
look at the compressor wheels. its pretty clear if they are different than 9bs.

show pix of the wheels. If there arent a million blades, it isnt a 9b. Oh and 6spd>5spd. This coming from a 5spd owner. 5spd gear box is too sloppy and long.

The exterior of that car is flawless. Interior and engine bay need TLC. That car can be MINT without much work. Rims... they work. It's hard for me to say that. I'd get a datalogger ASAP to make sure you are safe. Who knows what's going on?
Trust me 5spd > 6spd...coming from someone that has owned both. I'll let you take the 97 for a spin, you'll see what I mean within 15 minutes. Longer gears, less shifts, tranny that isn't worth it's weight in gold aka damn near irreplaceable. Yep 5spd>6spd...Oh yea not to mention that 6spd reverse is fucking retarded.
i still own both and could drive them back to back if i wish. even with a stock 1G shifter and DSM horsecock shifter handle on my stealth

i prefer the 5 speed.
then again it does have more than enough power to pull those long gears.

What's wrong with the reverse on the 6spd compared to the 5?
I loved the shorter throws and the "better" gearing in my 6spd. Glad you got the car on the road, it's always nice when you can sit back and enjoy a fun car again

I've yet to drive a 6spd 3S, but always liked having the long gears of the 5 speed. The gears are so short in the 240 that it's a pain in the ass. I cruise on the highway at around 4000 rpms at all times.

i never had to go up slightly in my 97....but the lockout spring for reverse is very stiff. after driving a few others ive come to realize either a. mine is wierd (26k miles) or b. the others ive driven were worn. (80k+ or more)

I never had to go up slightly either, it was just like the 5spd...go all the way to the right, then just press a little harder and drop it right down. I dunno...it's all preference about the gears though, depends on what you want to use it for I guess

so you basically took a 6spd shifter, with a 5spd knob, and it fit in perfectly?
