Not too surprised, hostile takeovers happen in corporations like that a lot. It happened to the founder of Boarders Books I believe it was.

Not only was he fired, but now he doesn't even get the first production car.

Most company founders suck at building a company. Most founders have a good idea, get funding for the idea, and when it becomes apparent there is a chance for that idea to work . . . . . the inverstors pull the founder out and put people in place that can actually run a company.
Most inventors have no idea how to grow a business. It is common, he retains whatever ownership he didn't give up to the investors and they give him some token job to do. founders make thier money when the real business owners grow the company.
