To sell... Or not to sell...

Post by Theo1 »

Ok so i have a 92 vr4. I got it in pretty rough shape. I have had it in good mechanical shape, but it now is having more problems. Im starting to wonder if i should sell it now, before it becomes a major money pit, and try to find a vr4 that was a little more taken care of with lower miles. I was going to get it reparinted, but i dont know if it will be worth it. Money is not really and issue because i have plenty in the bank, but i just dont want to put it into something that keeps falling apart.

Heres whats wrong with it:
Active aero doesnt work
Front end is pretty fucked up from when the guy before me hit a deer and had Jethrows body shop fix it.
Fog lights dont work
TOB is done fore
Car started smoking pretty profusely today
Paint is shot, along with rust
Slight oil leak
Will need some more work as well

Good:
Spent alot of time fixing what i could
Interior is good accept for some minor things
has 120k t-belt ect
New idle speed control
new ecs stuts
rear rotors
oilcooler and lines...

I just dont know if its worth it, and since prices of 3kgt's and stealths have hit an all time low, i think i wanna get something newer with less miles

I'd get rid of it if you can sell it for a price you find acceptable.

There's very little keeping me in mine right now, and it's in much better shape than yours.

Sell it or part it out I'd say.

You wouldnt believe the problems we had with honda...

I think i actually am going to keep it. I got so much money into it now it would be pointless to sell it and loose all of that money.

How do i check this? With the knobs? I seem to think it is the front since they probably didnt fix it when he hit a deer, because he had the fucking hammerman bros bodyshop fix it, and they couldnt even paint the front bumper right or buy a new turn signal for the car. I will check this tommorow though. So if it needs a motor, am i looking at like $400 +?

I have that, but its in the retracted stated and its all scraped up. So i look on the passenger side bumper and there should be a knob to lower it? And if that works, that means my motor is good and i should move on to the back?

Btw thanks so much for helping a 3s noob out
There is no knob, just the motor. AFAIK AA can not be moved manually. If it is damaged or dead in the front the rear will not work. Try disconnecting the front spoiler itself but leaving the motor attached. See if that fixes it, if not we'll go from there.
I always see you helping out others! Hell you helped me out once and I didn't even know you. Your a good guy in my book for threads like this.

I just went out and looked at the car. How tight is the active aero supposed to be to the bumper? I cant even fit a piece of paper in between. Is it supposed to be like this>?
