How big of a challenge would I be in for?
I'm looking to buy a second car for me to take out in the boonies when I go fishing. I was looking at this thing on craigslist:
Anyways, how much of a hassle would it be to lift it? Nothing to crazy, just a 2-3" lift kit. Is this something a wannabe 3/S mechanic can tackle, or would I be better suited to have it done professionally?

The S10s like that are a bitch and kits are expensive. Unless you just want a body lift

im pretty sure they have lift spindles. never looked into it.
be happy its a 2wd. easier to lift than 4x4 for the s10. get a set of spindles and 1-2" lift springs, flip kit for the rear axle and youre 4-5 inches higher than stock. im pretty sure 4x4s are spring over so thats an option too but you will need to get the correct wheels. 4x4 rear axles are 4 inches wider than 2wd.

I did a 3" body lift in my 4WD Ranger over a weekend. That allowed me to get 33" tires on it. It was a very nice upgrade. The body lift was only about $150 for the kit at

Get a carb'd YJ if you want a cheap easy to lift beater.
Put my lift on in less than 3 hours. First time I ever did anything like it.
