Ok, this is all just pure fantasy, but it should prompt some interesting discussions.
Jeremy C and I were BSing about this one earlier. Imagine you've got just gigabucks. You decide to meet up with a few of your similarly well funded friends, and take the month or more to take a Grand Tour of the United States (with a brief foray into Canada)
The route is as follows:
Detroit > Chicago > Kansas City > Denver > Los Angeles > Phoenix > Dallas > New Orleans > Miami > Atlanta > New York City > Toronto > Detroit, for the Woodward Dream Cruise
It starts and ends in Detroit because it's the fucking Motor City. Live with it
What do you drive? And why? For added fun, post a picture, in your colors and options of choice if you can find one.
Money is no object. The only criteria is it has to be a real, running car, of which one example has actually sold on the open market. No one-off concept cars that never left a turntable. It doesn't have to be practical or reasonable. This is purely an emotional choice. However, you may be called upon to justify it to your fellow Grand Tourers
==========================
If you're going to go for it, why not go for the best. The songs of praise for this car are long and plentiful. For me personally, it's about a deep appreciation of the mechanical genius that went into building a car that should have have been built at all. It's the embodiment of German technical excellence and arrogance, in an understated French-designed package.
As Jeremy Clarkson said. "This is not only the best car ever built....it is quite possibly the best car that will
ever be built"

I would want something comfortable and fast. I cant think the veyron is comfortable for days and days of driving. I would have to go with a PORCHSE CAYANNE TURBO(with upgraded fuel and slammed wastegates

and supporting mods) assuming i wont be in the car alone.

Need I say anything else? It tried to kill The Stig, and the doors have hinges with names most people could never pronounce. It's perfect.

Clarification:
Modified cars are allowed. But there has to be at least one real world example of it in existence. Also, if you want to use a true race car, you have to prove it can be registered for street use
imagine cruisin the country with friends in a comfortable suv with 650hp lol.
Nothing against that at all. I think that's a great idea.
Vira can ride with me in the Veyron, but I have to say, I'm hoping that she comes up with her own car to drive. I'm curious to see what she'd chose.

McLaren F1 GT LM
680HP and 2480lbs
Still just about the best car ever made...plus it has enough storage room to fit a couple suitcases AND I can take 2 friends with me. A trip like this is MADE with the companionship, so you can take your girl and some sucker to be the 3rd wheel

Absolutely
awesome car. One of the 2 or 3 I'd even consider over the Veyron.
However, might the LM be a little bit much for an intercontinental trip? It's stripped down a bit from the regular street version. Noise and harshness might be a bit much over those kinds of distances.

Very true...but I spent a year in a gutted FC with race suspension and a bride bucket, a 240SX with the same, and a 240Z that had a straight pipe'd turbo motor and practically scrapped the ground. I think I'll manage in the "uncivilized" version...Everytime I got a little annoyed, I'd just hammer the go pedal...it's always worked for me before

Awwww.
Actually, you have definitely turned me on to the Veyron. I think I'd take you up on that ride.
But for my personal choice I'll go with the Viper. I just love the curves of this car. :d rool:
For comfort though (yeah I do have a bad back and get uncomfortable on long drives) I'll take this.

If you had a boyfriend with enough cash for a Veyron, I'm sure he could find someone to fix your back
Good choice with the Viper

If I was rich enough to do this I could have any of these cars and drive them anywhere anytime I wanted to. So i would want something more comfortable to actually enjoy the drive and the scenery itself. So my choice is:
Aston Martin DBS - If I only need 2 seats.
Bentley Continental Flying Spur - If I need 4 seats.

Apparently Veyron's are incredibly comfortable, at least that's what my friend says. He had a Co-op/Internship with Volkswagon in germany and they let him poke around the car, lucky bastard.
Anyways, on to my choice (which is most definitely the best choice). I would drive an Aston Martin DB9, black on black.
I will own one of those one day.

Sounds like a blast!
I'd drive a black Audi R8 with carbon fiber accents.
A comfortable car with amazing style and a proven V8 engine that will handle the cross country trip like a dream.
Not to mention I cannot wait for some twisties.

I know that the DB9 can withstand long trips comfortably. Mr. Clarkson beat Europe's fastest train from England to Italy
