2025 Hyundai Santa Fe

We almost bought one back in 2017 but decided on a truck instead and a used Acura for the Mrs. Looking back that was the better choice, especially for our needs at the time. Now the wifey is due for a new car. We have looked at a lot, but we are starting to settle down on space and mpg. The new Hyundai Santa Fe Hybrid gets 36mpg City and 31 MPG highway while having 3 rows.

Anyways the first one landed in town about a week ago and we checked it out. Its a limited package, and the hybrids wont come out until April, so still waiting. Sorry for all the snow.

This one has the 2.5 Turbo and my wife really likes it. Pretty sure the Hybrid will not come turbo, so it will be more snails pace for her, but thats ok.

Right now her Acura gets 14mpg city and it just sucks.

Hyundai is really leaning into this whole 8 bit video game vibe. It's so weird, but in a good way. I like it.

I like the design (I think the back takes a bit to get used to) but holy cow the Santa Fe has grown in size.

The only thing I don't like about it is the back end. I think it's a bit to boxy at the back.

I kind of like how smooth it is. It'd look really weird without the spoiler. I think it'd be interesting to see how it looks debadged. That's one trend I really don't like. Spelling out the brand name in huge letters on the front or back. Thank you, Ford Raptor. :p

It kind of reminds me of the Ford Flex from the side - which to me is not really a bad thing haha.

But yes.. debadge it.

Yea, they are trying to go low bit for sure. Almost feels like they are trying to mesh a Tesla truck with a Land Rover.

It is boxy, but it also has some curve. I like the mix. The rear end looks good and bad, just depends on the angle. It was a necessity to get the very large rear hatch to work as they wanted.

Its also less then 2" longer than its previous version. So not that long

TFL just released a review video on this. I definitely like the look overall, but as others have said the rear looks a little off.

Kia/Hyundai engines make me nervous. Was reading a lot of issues with the dealerships having to replace engines, and customers having nothing but problems with the dealership experience/service. Our little Kia was ok though. But wasn't what Danielle wanted. She liked it, it served its purpose. But she never loved it. She loves her Forester.

Solid review. I was wondering if the Hybrid would get the turbo engine or not. They seem to think it will get the 1.6 turbo, so that is a nice addition over the previous model.

10 year/100k miles powertrain warranty (including hybrid)

I dont see many complaints about them, but ask Jeff how bad his moms warranty process was.

Kia was compelled by the courts to provide those repairs, so it's probably not a good comparison.

I get that. I am just saying, if it does happen, downtime can suck. Sure you don't have to pay, but it could also turn into a long time without it should the engine go boom boom. But I also don't know enough about them to really have much say. Just from reading interwebs while we had the kia soul.

My MIL got a free loaner for almost 2 months when her Hyundai got a new engine

Not a bad deal. I've never had a dealer offer me a car while mine was repaired. Not that its often as I tend to try and tackle my own problems.

I've gotten loaners frequently and especially for warranty work.

Subaru has always been great about it for Jen's old legacy and for her outback. I just tell them we don't have alternative transportation and they just take care of it :dontknow:

I know my Ford ESP gets me same day loaners for anything I drop my new truck off for too.

Hell, Subaru has even offered us loaners when we get oil changes.

They are our only cars under warranty though.
