Eric has one in Indiana…..I am very tempted to go get it. It’s not a smart move. The smartest is the 3.0 stroked to 3.5. But the 3.5 with the 3.8 crank is the next best choice. You don’t get mivec heads but you don’t have to redo EVERYTHING.

I have always thought a 3.8 NA auto vr4 would be a great daily driver though.

Yea, i saw his after he decided to part with his build. Honestly the best build would be a 3.5 SR block with Mivec heads, and 3.8 crank for a 3S. I plan to eventually do one, but I think i need to find another SR block to build up first. My current one had a spun main bearing and im iffy about it.

For those who have not pulled an SR block its by far the biggest PITA for a 6G.

Has anyone done a 3.8NA auto 3s?

I've seen a guy with a Stratus and a guy with a 3rd gen Eclipse do the 3.8 Mivec swap and their builds look nice. Haven't seen a 3S yet. Probably due to the oil filter housing being located exactly where the driver half shaft comes out. Total no go.

Honestly its not all that torquey down low. It really only comes to life with revs.

And the massive oil pan modification. Remote oil filter is much easier than pan welding.

If you go 74 SR block then just use a 2nd gen oil pan. However if you have the crossover block then yes, get ready to weld. Fun fact. Already have a welded up pan i made when the first Mivec was slated for the Stealth.
