Name the tool

I don’t know what it’s called or even if they make this but maybe you know.

I would like something that goes (and stays by itself) on a cable but doesn’t latch down and lock till you want it to. If that be by a switch, or lever I don’t care.

Basically, when unloading the model A, it took 4 men an hour and half. So I’m going to take a snatch block and hook it to the rear tie downs. Then use the winch to pull the model A out. Here is the problem. If it starts rolling away….I will not be able to stop it. I want this to sit on the same cable in front of the car and if I need it to stop I can pull a rope and lock it down. I know they make open ones that pulls cable but I would have to keep it on there with my hand and if I let go it would fall off. I need a self sliding unit with a lock.

Is that out there?

Buy rubber wheel chocks. Stop every few feet and reposition them. If the car runs away, it'll roll a few feet and hit the chocks. It'll be slightly annoying, but easier than this Rube Goldberg thing you're trying to build.

At some point, people are going to stop calling a Rube Goldberg machine, and just call it a David Cooper machine.

Eye of the beholder.

I love the simple idea of the chock block, but I can’t even get to where I can put the chalk block and be at the remote.

Grabbed a snatch block and I think the fix is to get a wireless remote and just walk behind it to stop it if I need to. I can’t do that with the cable one.

I was hoping for over complex though.

You have a lot of challenges when it comes to wiring. This could still be complicated for you. :D

Do I? I thought HF offered a plug in wireless remote?
