Why do I do this to myself?
Looking at car haulers. Thinking of uhaul type. Electric brakes. To put my avalanche around the house I have to nail the turn. I would love to move the car hauler around the house with my 4 wheeler. This would be possible if I had some sort of stand alone, hand held, brake controller so basically the trailer wouldnt move unless I let if (I wouldnt do it loaded) and the 4 wheeler only steered it.
Why can I think of stupid things like this but I cant find one.

Do you mean open deck with only 2 channels for the tires? I honestly wouldn't recommend it unless you know you're going to haul cars frequently. A flat deck is far more useful for other things.
Also I know there are trailer Dolly's around that can activate the brakes but they're expensive because they also can haul the trailer around.

I did mean the first thing you described. Could I not add wood in the middle and have the best of both?

Re: Why do I do this to myself?
I use my full deck open trailer all the time for hauling stuff around. I move it around with my ATV as well, but I don't think I have the sort of hills that you do. I try to stay on the asphalt when I do move it on my hill. Hill plus grass, I wouldn't do it.
If you can trigger the trailer brakes from the ATV, that would make it safer if you started sliding, but honestly, I wouldn't want to even let it get to that point. If you think you need trailer brakes to move it around with an ATV, then you shouldn't be moving it with an ATV.

Damn. You are 100% right about the grass. You just made me second guess all of this.
Damnit.

Yeah, on grass the ATV just isn't heavy enough to have the kind of control you need. You'll go where the trailer wants you to.

Yup with the weight difference. Really its just one turn around the house that I would use it for. Then ideally place the avalanche back infront of the trailer and lower it down with a winch.

Yeah so your ATV 450-650lbs depending on it's size and the trailer is 2000lbs empty. Not heavy but certainly enough to cause a very bad day.
Re: Why do I do this to myself?
I’m really hurt about this trailer situation. I’ve wanted one. But no good place for one.
