Selling the other vr4

Post by DCIV »

Had a solid offer if 3k on the other vr4. It’s worth a little more but I just need it gone and over with.

With that said, I’ve wanted and could use a trailer.

I need a covered one to haul the model A. But to get one long enough for the vr4 is not only expensive, longer than I need at my house.

I really want the uhaul type trailer but some sort of cover or wrap or SOMETHING to haul that dang model A. Is there a real option to make this happen? Help me?

Congrats on thinning the herd.

You got a Model A?

It’s in New York. It’s the wife’s family. I think I made a thread about it.

Any covered trailer you build will worse than anything you'd buy.

He won't let you rent a trailer? Or he won't let you rent an open trailer?

There's gotta be a place that'll rent a covered trailer.

He will not let me do an open trailer. I wish there were a uhaul that I could use. Pick it up when I’m there, return it down here. Man that would be perfect. I can’t find one though.

A fireman does the shipping stuff. Said 2.50 for a cover trailer per loaded mile. That’s 1700 bucks. But then that also lets me get a regular uhaul type trailer for my personal use. If it be vr4 or lawn mower/4 wheeler.

The vehicle is in very. Very. Good shape. And sat for 60 years. And never went above 45 in its while love. Drive it home at 65/70 and the cloth top and everything. Else would not be happy. He’s not wrong. He’s not right either.

So its antique status? Like wood wheels and all? What do you want with an antique? They aren't performance cars and require a fair amount of upkeep.

I thought I posted about this?

It’s nice. Nice enough that it should be in some sort survivor class. The thing is the family has nice stuff but when it breaks they never fix it and just goes and gets new stuff. Hence why I have a scag. Hence why I have a Yamaha 4 wheeler with 24 miles. Lol.

I would like to get it here. Make it run. Drive it to local meets when we feel like it.

You may have ages ago, but its BAWC and we like repeats.

So did this car last in the family for 100 years running and finally died? It might be kind of fun nostalgia at first, but there is no getting anywhere fast in one if its all original.

The story goes: the great grand father (in law) owned a ford dealership. He originally sold this car to a family. They didn’t use it a lot but traded it in a couple years later and he gave it to his daughter, grandmother in law. She drove it for 15ish years and when she got something new they put it in a garage on blocks and left it. The grandfather in law taught shop at the local high school. He would turn it over by hand every couple weeks and it’s not froze up. It needs a new gas tank and carb work. Prob a water pump and radiator gone though. Clean out the passages and what not. But it’s all there and very nice condition. My wife was super close with her grandma. My oldest daughters middle name is the same as the grandma (the girls great grandma) and the grandma is passed away. This means a lot to the family. So I will make it run. I will make it drive-able and I will take it to a couple local meets a year. Once it’s home it shouldn’t need a trailer.

I honestly worried about this. Talked to someone who owned one and he said as long as it doesn’t have to start in the middle of the driveway then it should climb it just fine.

I was going to suggest this. We thought about doing the same.

Nice it’s got steel wheels. Hopefully you can still source all the parts you will need.

Ps. My dad has an old 29 model A that he turned into a hot rod back in the 50’s. So we might have something else in common.
