Chevy evap

We’re all from the tuner/modified world. Avalanche is not wanting to take fuel, a common Chevy problem. Everything you read is replace this or that.

How do I easily fix this? Surely it’s unplug a hose and put a filter on it or something. I don’t want any check lights but I don’t have emissions and don’t care about that part of it.

The charcoal canister and filling with fuel. There is also some vent or something. Only lets you fill up a little at a time.

If you block it off, you'll probably end up with a check engine light unless you get it tuned out.

How much are we talking about to just fix it right?

I don’t know. I just wanted to take the vent tube and put a tiny filter on it. Just don’t know which.

Looks like charcoal canister is 100 bucks. Don’t know about the vent.

I doubt the canister itself is the problem. It's probably one of the solenoids.

For what it's worth, my Corvette has a similar problem. But it's all due to the shape of the filler pipe and how fast some pumps put fuel in. The only 'fix' is to pull the pump part way out then try again so the fuel goes in at a different angle. You might want to try that before you dive too deep into this.

It seems fairly common that the charcoals get out of the canister and then clog the lines. So it’s a huge pain to get right. But also I spent 15 mins to get 6 gals of fuel this morning.

Curious. If I'm still getting lean conditions, is this something to look at? Replacing the canister?

Haven't done a log since clamping down the exhaust and replacing the intake manifold gasket since I've been sick and haven't driven anywhere in a couple of weeks.

A broken evap system shouldn't have any effect on AFR. It's mainly about mitigating fumes from the fuel tank. If the evap purge into the intake was leaking and causing you to have unmetered air, you'd likely be seeing codes for that.

Messed around with it some the other day, put some dielectric grease on the purge valve connector as some Facebook suggested.

Filled it up slowly today on my way to work. Pulled out, running fine, cruise a little, and it starts surging. Check engine light comes on flashing. Let off the gas the check engine light went away, surging went away...and no check engine stored code?!

I’m sure this is related to the evap. Curious what to do going forward as the evap canister on my 04 isn’t exactly easy to get to, gas tank should really come down to get to everything.

Thoughts? I would just rather bypass this and learn how to disable that check engine light honestly.

You'll need a tune to disable the codes, and then you'll never be able to park it inside because of the gas fumes after you vent or delete the charcoal canister.

Did you just put a cork in the evap lines for the tank? Where does the pressurized vapor go?

I feel like I would have to drop the tank. Plus I would just rather is be simple and strait forward. Not elaborately overdone.
