Any brand you would recommend or avoid?

Right now truck has a 105 amp delphi. Want to upgrade to the 145 since easy swap. Just need a bigger belt and maybe a bigger bolt. Need to figure that out.

Get the biggest oem offering. Forester has a 90 amp, I picked up a 130 amp from a tribeca for $60.

I'd like something with a warranty, 145 amp is biggest I can go without having to do more than swap a belt

Any parts store new ones worth it? Seem to be around $200. Unless I go acdelco then it jumps over 300

I also would like to know how do I tell which I have. I know mine has been replaced but don’t know if it’s already been upgraded.

Look for a serial number on the alternator. Mine had one. Plus the gap will be bigger on a 145 vs the 105. Just look at a parts store site to see the difference.

If you can get a new AC Delco for $300ish I'd go that way. New OE ones for every other car I've had would be $500+ for a new OE one.

I just did the upgrade a few weeks ago for a customer. 260 installed.

My cost on the ac delco 130a and a belt was 140 bucks

AC Delco isn’t better than the company that makes it for them. Just like an AC Delco belt is not any better than a Gates belt, same exact construction, different label.

I got the oreilly Ultima for my stealth about 2 weeks ago. Works great. It’s the exact same one as the BBB one on rock auto. BBB does good reman work (we supply them belts for reman electric power steering racks).

Personally I wouldn't buy a delco but I don't know who builds them.

My preference is denso but they don't do anything for gm that I can get locally.
