I'm bored so shut up
Rather bored today so been thinking about truck stuff again. Not buying yet of course but was browsing some government auctions and got to thinking.
If the price is right, is there any reason to not get a F250 over a F150?

Several.
-Overall size and length. They are bigger and they feel and handle like it.
-They are rougher to drive, especially the 4x4 solid front axle.
-Fuel economy. They are worse except for the diesels. They would be on par with smaller gas motors, or even slightly better
-May cost more to register depending on your state.
-Insurance is usually a little more too.
-Maintenance is more expensive. More capacity.

Steve pretty much hit all the points I thought of. Only reason to get an F250 over the F150 is if you need the payload or towing capacity. If you don't then there is no benefit.

Re: I'm bored so shut up
Only thing I can think of for payload is that my wife wants me to buy one of those campers that sit in the bed whenever I do get a truck. Looking at a 6+ ft bed for sure. Doesn't need to be crew cab, but extended for sure.

Just wasn't sure if the payload could handle one of those campers. I have seen online it is recommended to have a 3/4 ton for them. :d ontknow:

Not exactly this, but something like this.

I see dry weights from 2000 to 5000 lbs depending on model.

Yeah for something like that you'll probably need a F250 at least. You'll start blowing past the payload capacity of the truck really fast once you load up the camper for actual usage.

If you aren't careful you can blow past the payload capacity of an F250.

Be sure to look up the Ford fleet towing guide for the year trucks you are looking at. It does a great job of breaking down what you should and shouldn't do based on how the truck is equipped.

Thats not a 6' bed and that is also not the size of camper meant for an F150.
