Spyder parts to 3d scan
There is a cover that the Vr4s have buttons and the spyders dont. Its to the right of the steering wheel.
Anyone have one I can 3d scan. The one available has 3 broken tabs and I want a full one.

Re: Spyder parts to 3d scan
I can send you mine if I can get the file and the original back from you when you are done. I'd like to make a spare to mount my AEM selector knob in.

Re: Spyder parts to 3d scan
You could base it off the coupe part and just blank out the provisions for the actual buttons. The problem is almost every damn one I've ever seen has broken tabs.
Can't you just copy and paste a good tab into the model before you print it?

I think about all the things we could have done, all the miracles we could have achieved, if we were all just a little bit better than it turns out we are.

Coop needs to figure these out. Spyder seatbelt bezels. I've been holding on to these in the hopes I could pass them on to someone who could reproduce them.

Yeah what Jeff said, if they are like the ones with the buttons I went through 5 before I found a non broken tab one. I want an extra one someone has as if you take it out those tabs will break.

Jeff. We just got done doing a throttle control cover that were made for 30 years and now no one makes the plastic to cover the wires and if you need to access the wires the plastic breaks. 3d scanner if, the texture came out nice and everything. Is it 100% the same, no, but its a hell of a lot better than nothing. Those being perfectly smooth will be a little issue as without molding no one can get that perfect but I bet we can make much better than people have right now. Let me scan them and see.

It's like you can sense people talking about 3D printing here...

Whenever you use forceful and overt verbal persuasion to try to convince others to see things your way, they're probably not listening to what you say, Instead they're looking for every error in you your logic and mistakes in your facts, all the while constructing counterarguments. Worse still, they don't merely believe you're wrong; they need you to be wrong in order to protect the status quo. And since the final judge exists in their own head, you lose every time. - The Influencer
Is the level of bullshit you have to go through to change things in a direction you want, less than than or equal than the level of current bullshit?

Now that I'm a spyder owner...I have a few projects in the queue. This is one of them
Lost a lot of time though to shoulder surgery. Hopefully by summer.

Re: Spyder parts to 3d scan
Are you sure?
Re: Spyder parts to 3d scan
Any chance of scanning the center gauge black plastic piece? I can send mine if you think that is do-able. Or the main gauge cluster surround black piece?
I can send these parts if you don't have them laying around. I think I have spares of both.
For the main gauge cluster I was thinking of trying to print something that would hold an AEM CD-7 display, though there are complications with doing that - like fuel gauge, turnsignals, odometer. I'd probably leave the original cluster installed for the odometer and maybe have the clear plastic shield off for clearance, and possibly use an AEM CANbus converter to read the fuel sensor and turn signals and other idiot lights and pipe them to the display.

Is the spyder one different? I don’t see why I couldn’t?

No, these aren't Spyder-specific. I just figured this thread was a good spot to ask.

I mean, I think there are plenty of those out there unless your just wanting one if a file to modify. I need to check my parts I think I have one.

K. Let me check my parts. Think you could modify one that I could put in the jdm gauges?

Re: Spyder parts to 3d scan
Depends on if the JDM gauges align in the stock position or not. I recall that Jeff had a set and the black plastic insert was reversed - but don't know if there's something different about how the gauges themselves mount to the insert. I'd think we could figure it out. Should be easy enough to "unshroud" the hole for the clock that doesn't have the little half-moon on the left side of the insert.
