What’s the v8 swap you would do?

I’ve wanted to ride in a Jeep with a modern v8 swap. I dated a girl in college that has a 4.0 auto Jeep Wrangler, it was fun but just after it got moving it didn’t have anything else in it. Always wanted to see what those would be like with an aluminum v8 in it.

Would also do 1st gen bronco. Maybe even a karma Gia if they would fit. Rode in a monster Miata and don’t want one of those.

What your list? What would you v8 swap?

LS9 in an S10 for me.

Whenever the 4.0 craps out in the Jeep I'll probably drop in a LS

I've got a few future builds in my head. I want to put a LQ4 in a 64 C10 and TT it. On low boost it would easily make 600 hp in a heavy truck.

I also want a TT LQ in a 75 Chevy Monza 2+2. 600 hp in a light RWD car would be a blast, and when I smoked someone on the street 95% of people wouldn't have a clue WTF just beat their ass.

Why not just single turbo it. Perfect setup for a straight 6.

Want is an relative term. I don’t actually want to, I think it’s cool though. If I didn’t have any other thing to do then this would be cool.

I really don't even find it that "cool" anymore. I do like engine swaps, but the LS/V8 swap doesn't even come close to exciting me anymore, maybe because it's been done SOOO much. Kind of like the 99 front end swap on a 3/S.

I think it'd be fun to do an L92 swap into the H3. It'd make a lot more power than a standard Alpha.

I can't really think of anything else at the moment.

One of the guys at karate has a Wrangler with an LS3 in it. The short wheelbase makes it a little scary. Fun though.

I'm surprised there aren't more V8 swapped Jeeps.

That’s kind of my thinking. Honestly it would be easy and cheap to find an older one, get a carb’d v8 and swap it in. Might be a bitch to get started on cold mornings but I bet it would be fun!

There are plenty of V8 Jeeps out there.

I think I6 Jeep guys want torque and dont need to rev out. Its less weight, simpler, better fuel, proven powerplant. The 4.0 is actually pretty quick and powerful. NA guys build them to over 300hp and turbocharged well over 600hp and gobs of torque.

Honestly Im surprised that we dont see more turbocharged jeep builds vs v8 swaps. Its a great little motor.

I read on this last night and they said that the aluminum v8’s weigh less than the 4.0’s.

An LS is lighter than some iron block 4 cylinders. That's why they use them in drifting. It's almost impossible to get that kind of power in anything else that's also that light and compact.

I figured you were talking about the stock V8's that came in grand cherokees. There are some newer, lighter v8s out there now.
