Wanting to read up on different gear oils and what not to go in the avalanche, are there any testers out there that are NOT paid to say a product rocks?

The transfer case takes some special GM stuff that's like blue syrup. Maybe there's some compatible gear lubes for that now.

Stop overthinking this, Coop. It's a a 15? year old truck. It's not like you're going to take it on the Dakar Rally.

Just put in what the owner's manual says to put in and call it a day.

Agreed. Or just grab all the Amzoils that they recommend and go with that. Not worth the time to think much about it.

What Jeff or Matt said. Its not a race car. You are always safe with the OEM recommendation, although Amsoil and Redline have consistently proven their formulas over the years, so they are solid alternatives.

Coop—-gets in trouble for asking what oil to use.

Also coop—-gets in trouble for wanting to read up on it.

Lol. Naw there is a odd chunk when turning and accelerating. I would say u joints but doesn’t do it from D to R. So I was curious about which might be better.

Don’t worry. I went with mobile 1 and am gonna mix two weights to get what I want.

I'm not saying don't do any research. I'm just saying don't overthink it. It's not a race car or a commercial vehicle. It's your daily beater. Figure out what works for your climate and how you actually use the truck, and you'll be fine.
