Current trends you don't like?

Post by Duck Vader »

There are a lot of nice things about newer cars in regards to safety and performance.

However, is there anything they are starting to do in new cars that you don't like?

For instance it seems more and more often you don't get a spare tire. That drives me nuts.

For the most part, I’ve seen a lot of new features I really like. Safety wise I like them except when I need to cut someone out of one.

The spare tire does suck, the lower and lower ground clearance get annoying. Also the over computerizing of systems I’m sure makes some things better but also makes systems way more complicated.

Oh the bigger and bigger tires bug me. Like they are freaking expensive. My crv tires were like 250. Lol. My wife’s tires will be 600-800.

My truck has a spare. ;)

Lane change departure warning can be hit or miss. Some suck so bad that they almost get you into a wreck.

My RS doesn't have a spare, but has a fix a flat kit in it. I think with RFT and fix a flat stuff, the weight savings/cost savings from not having a spare tire is more of a benefit to the OEMs.

I'll go more with current styling trends, that requires high belt lines and HUGE c or d pillars. A lot of newer cars have horrendous sight lines because of this trend. Sure the car may look cooler this way, but they suck to drive. You basically have to have all these nannys because the sight lines are so compromised.

Isn't a lot of this to get good safety ratings, especially in uni-body cars?

Larger A pillars are to an extent, but a lot of it is driven by looks and probably aerodynamics.

I got used to driving the Volt and don't really notice the blind spots anymore, that is until I drive the XJ and can see EVERYTHING.

Can't be any worse than a FJ Cruiser or Camaro. Two cool looking cars you can't see shit out of. Even cars like the Accord, Camry, and Malibu are starting to get into the high belt line ways.

Generally speaking I'm a fan of those, except FWD which is fine.
