A green 2500 that has 155k and I would have to have the drivers seat redone and 5 hours away

A 04 grey 1500 that has 101k miles and all options for that gear for 9,998 and is 2 hours away

A 07 dark blue 1500 with 121k miles is a FL vehicle and pictures so 0 rust and cloth for for 10,900 and is 1 hour away

All avalanches.

At that point, with that age, and those miles it comes down to previous owner maintenance, rust, modifications, and personal preference.

I would have to see something like that in person before I could make a choice.

Agreed the Florida one with 121k they showed pics and it’s flawless. I’ve not seen anything that age and that clean.

I called up and asked for pics on the 100k mile one just now.

I’m gonna ask about rust on the 2500.

I was dead set on the 100k one and was gonna drive there today and offer 9k. But then I got to thinking about how the 2500 one is 7,500. That’s a lot difference but so is 50k miles (and green, gross). I guess I was gonna go a little cheaper and the wife would like to send out daughter to a private school next year and I could help with a little money from the Humvee. Not needed but it sure gives us a little piece of mind. But a 100k mile vehicle would run for MANY years and I would still have some left over.

My concern with the 2500 is do you really need that much truck? If not, if all other things being equal (rust, maintenance, etc) I would probably go for the 04 given what you are looking to do with it. The 07 you have to watch for the AFM issues.

So your correct. I don’t NEED that much of a truck. Hence why there are two others normal ones here. But for 2,500 cheaper it’s hard to look away. 10-12mpg. Same as the Humvee, cheaper fuel. It gets 1500-2000 miles on it a year, maybe more since it can drive better than the Humvee. So it’s not like it’s a huge factor it being that much of a truck. If it were my daily then I would worry but the 4 speed avalanches get 14-19mpg so really around town 4 mpg difference is not a deal breaker.


Got pics of the 100k mile one. It has some very light surface rust. Honestly it has basically no rust. Not as good as the 120k but nothing....absolutely nothing I would worry about.

If I knew they would take 9k then I would get it as the interior is perfect and the options are all there.

No. I have a 1yr old I would be taking for a 5 hour trip and have to find someone to go with me because my wife works.

Oh. I know. We will leave at her nap time and she takes an hour and half nap at first. That should get us there. Then we can look at the vehicle, test drive, and buy. That’s an hour out of the car seat and then 2 hours home. She will not be happy.

I drove 6 hours each way to get my RS.

I didn't take Austin with. But Austin has done a few 12 hour trips, and a few 3 hours trips. 2 hours is nothing in a car man...

Don’t get me wrong. Mine has made it to ny twice. Difference is I bet you were not alone. I have taken her an hour one way multiple times and been out and about 5-7 hours between going home but there were things to do. Just sitting strait in a car for 2 plus hours is not easy unless someone is back there entertaining her. If it weren’t for her 5 plus hours to get the right vehicle is nothing.

About 2 months ago my grandpa died. So since then both my parents are in FL taking care of my grandma. But yes....I could hit their house with a rock if I wanted to.

Edit: sometimes I feel like you all don’t believe I can think for myself when it comes to something as simple as lodgistics of my family and how no matter what someone’s done it better and more. Every family is different. My sisters kid can’t handle 20 mins ride for the longest time. Mine is super easy but still isn’t right to buckle her in a car seat all day.

Do you need to buy one of these right now? Can you wait it out for something closer or when you have someone to watch the kid?

I could wait. Don’t find many 100k miles one. They are out there but hard to find. Chances are I will not find one closer than 2 hours. As pointed out 2 hours isn’t bad. I will make it work.

The hell they don't. Mine went on a 6 hour trip at 7 months with not even a peep. 13 months 5 hours on a plane. Same. Slept almost the entire flight. At 2... Another 12 hours in the car with minimal fuss.
