Ever just wish
You had a bigger gas tank? I do all the time. I love how big the gas tank is in a 3/s, but would still get a bigger one if I could. My crv and my escape have tiny gas tanks. I think most cars are designed to go between 300-400 miles before a fill up. I dont care to buy gas, just went I do I wish I could get more so I didnt have to stop as regular.
Am I alone in this?

9 gallon tank in the Volt... I don't really care but it's funny when it only takes 7-8 gallons to fill up. Fuel attendants always seem perplexed by it.
The 300 to 400 range is probably about weight saving for mpg in the smaller cars and suvs. Most people are happy with that so they use the smallest tank available to get those results and save weight for mpg. That is why you can get big tanks in big trucks and suvs. Not as big of concern about saving weight.
At least that is what I think.
Getting fuel doesn't bother me though. Probably because I don't pump my own. Doesn't take any longer than sitting at a red light if you go at the right time.

Yeah it's not a big deal if you live in Oregon, since they don't pump their own gas
I still have to fill the Focus up 1-2 times per week, I don't have any issue with it, nor do I wish it was less. Getting gas is a part of life if you drive a vehicle :d ontknow:
300-400 miles per tank is plenty for the average driver I think. I mean if I am driving on a road trip, I'm going to stop every 3-4 hours or so anyway, and at 70 mph that's 210-280 miles, so 300 is plenty of range.
I think Jason is right about weight savings too. Gasoline weights around 6lbs./gallon so the weight adds up quick. More weight means less fuel economy, less load carrying etc.

The Cobalt has a 13 gallon tank and I sometimes wish it was bigger. I feel like I put gas in all the time. My driving habits may contribute to that as well...
Re: Ever just wish
I fill up once a week and it doesn't bother me. I did swap the 13 (reduced to 10 by a big dent) tank in my s10 with a 20. That thing can go nearly 2 weeks now if I drive it regularly.
With the amount I drive it now I fill it about every 6 months.

Yes, that is one of my few complaints about our Venza. We bought it for our road trips, but the tank is on the small side. Very minor complaint, but yes, I wish it had a 20 gallon tank...

Depends on what I am driving for how long between fill ups too though. Volt is about once every 1000 miles so about 1x a month.
If I take the Jeep it is about 1x every 1-2 weeks and it has a 20 gallon tank.

The CTS holds 18 gallons. I fill it up once every 3.5 weeks or so unless I drive extra for work or we do something unusual on weekends.

The Explorer Sport only has a 18.6 gallon tank, and at 22mpg on the highway it sits right at 400. But we stop before we even come close to that, usually a max of 300 miles, and we just stop and fill up whenever we stop on long road trips.

Yea, and my F150 I had at my last job would get around 500 miles+on a 28 gallon tank. Like you I really like the extended range. Especially since I live in the mountains and no cities are nearby. I can drive all the way to the San Francisico bay for a weekend, and drive back over over the Sierras and not pay a dime of super inflated CA gas.

Drove my mother in laws avalanche and it got stupid amounts of miles on a tank. I remember being amazed but forget how far.

[thestealth] It's not every laborador-sized mammal that gets a damned APC named after it, but the Honey Badger isn't your typical member of the Mammalia class. He's a brutal, vicious killer who kicks asses, never backs down, never registers fear, destroys everything in its path and then adorably trots off into the sunset with his prey in his teeth and the severed nutsacks of his enemies still gripped between his dagger-like claws. It's a badass animal.

Re: Ever just wish
That's one of the things that always botherd me on my old Explorer max range was about 310 miles. It really needed an additional 3 gallons minimum. The 22 gallon tank just wasn't big enough for a 14-18mpg vehicle.

Im glad Im not alone. I still want to make a custom gas tank for the vr4 that gets rid of the hump for the spare, and adds more area for more fuel. Will prob never happen but who knows.....Ive done crazier.

I've run across quite a few people adding auxiliary fuel tanks to Land Cruisers, GX470s, and Sequoias.
