Steering wheel

Post by DCIV »

It’s time for me to pull the trigger on a new steering wheel.

Couple quick questions.

I know if I do it wrong my srs light will go off...what’s the correct way?

The adapter to attach the wheel, who has the cheapest or the best?

I believe a lot of the DSM adapters will work.

I want to go with an aftermarket wheel myself. Biggest problem I forsee is the cruise control switch.

I don’t need horn, cruise, or volume buttons. Prob just go with a knock off everyrhing. Lol. The quick disconnects look pretty cool.

First gen, right? Just unplug the SRS computer rather than dicking around with resistors.

Not something i would skimp on, i didnt even want to put the cheap adapter and quick release on my sim racing setup lol. Cheap steering wheels break and flex, would not want to get stabbed in the neck with a broken steering wheel in an accident.

Correct. So unplug the battery, unplug the srs computer, remove it, and no worry about any light or anything?

Okay well what’s a good brand minus momo? There has to be a knock off that’s not brand name? If my chest makes it to my wheel then I’m fucked anyways but no I don’t want the wheel to feel cheap and flex.

Unplug the battery, let it sit for an hour or so, and then remove your center console storage bucket. It's 4 screws. Then push the metal tab in on the SRS connector so the latch pops up. Then unplug it. You can leave the module in there in case you ever want to reconnect it. Just zip tie the cable to one of the brackets so it doesn't flop around.

A good setup is going to run you $250-500 depending on if you want a quick release or just a hub.

Honestly been thinking a little more aggressive. Was thinking more flat bottom or at least some sort of not totally circular wheel. I just don’t want stupid “type r” lettering or bs on it.

Not a fan of that style, but nrg is probably the cheapest I'd go personally.

You need a wheel like that Emerald Regice or whatever his name is. Looks like something straight out of Star Wars.
