Finally bought my first V8 powered vehicle I didn't want to be dependent on borrowing my parents Expedition anytime I needed to tow or haul something. I also wanted to be able to tow the Miata (still haven't done that), so I knew I'd want a vehicle rated to tow 7000ish lbs to give myself some overhead. I was looking at V8 4runners, the updated first gen Tundra/Sequoia, and F150's. I landed on the 06-10 24V V8 Explorer's as a good all around value, for a lower mile truck which would be easier to drive/park daily.

When I brought it home.

I picked up a set of Rancho Quicklift assembled shocks and springs. I was more looking for a great shock more than a lift, but could deal with the inch or so lift the shocks/springs gave it.

The funny thing is this is now our best accelerating car The LGT Wagon my wife had is gone and we bought a 2016 Outback 2.5i Premium, and I still have the 01 Miata. It's really nice in the Explorer I can stab the throttle, the 6spd auto will down shift a couple gears and pulls pretty nicely for a 4700lb truck

I wasn't expecting that. Lol. That's pretty cool. Surprised you haven't towed more with it.

yeah the track day's I've done since buying the Explorer my dad has offered to tow with his Expedition and pay for the gas for the trip... so who am I to argue

Yeah I've honestly thought about selling it simply because I haven't truly needed it for the year I've had it... But I have put lots of gas through it lol

Meh keep it. If you wife is anything like mine, she will appreciate the added space and the higher viewing angle. Plus is you have any kiddos it's the perfect family wagon.

I have always kind of liked exploders. After having to drive the XJ with the Volt being down right now I find that I miss the higher driving position in heavy traffic. Nice to see around.

Explorers, and other similar sized truck based SUV's, are great all around vehicles with great sight lines, and wonderful utility. I'm partial to Ford trucks.

I keep really wanting a truck again. Don't really have room for it though. I want 3 cars in my driveway. The Volt as a daily, a Camaro SS as a toy, and a 4-door Silverado for hauling and a good all around vehicle.

Right now have a Volt, a Soul, and a XJ.

Did brakes on it yesterday, Raybestos Enabled Hybrid pads and Advanced Technology Rotors at all 4 corners. Pedal feel is greatly improved and the truck stops better too, and that's without the pads being fully bedded in.

I actually thought about flipping the image to see if anyone noticed it was still actually from different sides of the truck.

Good point. I just had that replaced a couple of months ago.

The pictures on the left is stock and the right is with a spacer. The spacer pushes the wheels out to where most aftermarket wheels would be. I'm not planning on driving this way, it was a cheap way to see if I'd like how it looks.

I bought spacers to run my cobra wheels but they're just too short. Kept the spacers with the stock wheels and they fill out my flares better. Not quite as out there as yours
