Why should I not?

Why should I not get a C6 Corvette over a new GTI?
For roughly the same price as a new GTI, if not a few thousand less, I can get a C6 Vette with under 50k miles on it.
I already have a 4 door daily car/hatchback - the Volt - and I am going to be fixing the XJ this summer as well.
Only downside I can think of is that my wife said she won't drive the Vette. She drives the Volt however. The Volt is 3 inches longer and only 2 inches narrower than the Vette.
So why should I not get a Vette?

No reason not to. The GTI will depreciate like a rock. The C6 will hold it's value much better since most of the depreciation already occurred.
My mom traded in her Jetta GLI last year. 36k miles on it, in mint condition, and 2 years old. Couldn't even sell it privately for $16k. And it was fully loaded with a manual trans. They have absolute shit resale value.

Based on our current needs. I would drive the Volt Mon-Wed. She would take the Volt on Thursday. Friday and Saturday would be the issue. One of us could take the Vette, the other the Volt, or one of us could take the XJ and the other the Volt. For the money saved getting the Vette I can fix everything wrong with the XJ and still be under what the cost of the GTI would be...
But my wife doesn't like the Vette. If we are looking at 2 seater sports cars she likes Miatas...

What does she dislike about the Vette?

It is not "her" as she says. She can't see herself driving something like that. She likes small hatchbacks or small little cars in general.

Something like this is what I was thinking of. But not in red. I hate red.

It would probably have to be black or dark gray. I don't like red, yellow, or silver. Would have to see blue in person. Already have a white car.

Debated on a Camaro, but I am still not sold on them and I know the wife for sure will not drive one. As for CTS-V I don't like the looks. Never been a fan.

I know this is a c5 and not a c6, but it is $10,000 cheaper than a GTI. That is a lot of money...

Despite the Fisher Price interior, I will always have a soft spot for C5s.

Why does the "no hassle price" = N/A* ?

Help me make a list of cars to go test drive/see if I can fit in.
Basically trying to find a fun car to own for under $20k. Something like a weekend car that my wife will also drive.

It means the car is on hold or already sold. The car won't show up in a search, but the direct links are still valid for a little while.
