how much?

I can't afford $2000.00 for Kormex to do a full rebuild on my trans just to get 3rd gear from grinding and get it resealed. Is there anyone that can help me?

You could try begging to Dark Helmet/Gatecrasher.

Well I posted up here in hope that one of them would respond. If they didn't, then that would probably mean they aren't interested/don't care/don't have the parts/or just don't want to do it.

PM Toddrs93 on 3si. I want to say he charges $600 in labor, plus the cost of any parts.
He's in the DC metro region, so hopefully shipping wouldn't be too bad. Hell, if you've got a few days to kill you could make a road trip of it.

I would be shipping the trans itself.

Crap. What about Jack at 3si? I know he does good work, but I know nothing more than his name. Sorry Mike.

No, he's a gearbox specialist. Hopefully someone else here knows about him.
The Hammer's special gifts are pork related item's, and dress up.

JackHammer used to own a 3/S repair shop...was well respected, just couldn't get enough customers.
Or am I way off here and thinking of two different people?
Jackhammer = Mitsubishi Specialties, no?

I think it is a company out of Colorado, Jacks Transmissions I believe. From the research I have done, they are more expensive than Kormex.

I've pm'd them a couple times but didn't hear anything back

Last I heard, though, they don't have any replacement parts for the 6-speeds.
Which makes me wonder, if they can't get 'em, why would Kormex have any? Or toddrs? Where are they getting their replacement parts?
If I send my tranny to one of those places, will it come back with new synchros, etc? What exactly gets fixed/replaced? And why am I asking so many questions? Why? WHY?!

$3000 for a tranny rebuild...farking ouch. Damn you, mitsubishi, for outsourcing to Getrag! And damn you getrag for ceasing to produce our parts!

We have a '92 VR4 transmission just sitting around....has no 2nd and 5th gear. Not sure if that helps, but if anyone wants it, name your price!
