New Supra. Zzzzz

Just like the NSX, it's not even out yet and already I'm sick of hearing about this car. People have been talking about it since before the last one ended production. The FT-1 concept was interesting, especially in person. But this looks like a cross between an FT-86 an early 90s Prelude.

Obviously Jalopnik could have bad info, but given the prototypes we're seeing and how accurate their C7 leak was, I'll bet this is pretty close to the final car.

I am actually more excited about the new Bronco more than this thing.

Me too. I don't see myself buying either one, but at least the Bronco is interesting. Ford has been on a roll lately, so I doubt they'll screw up the design. I just hope it's got a unique front end and not just a tweaked F150 / Raptor clip.

Those are just speculative renders though. I hope it does end up looking like that, but without any leaks from Ford, I'm not getting my hopes up yet.

Since when did a guy need $80,000 to buy an awesome vehicle....? That's the problem with the new RX7 (RX9?) and I bet this new bronco won't be that far behind that price tag either.
If this new blah of a supra comes out competitively around 40ish, then it has hope.

The 86 starts at about $27k, no way the supra will be around $40k.

You were absolutely right for saying that.

No kidding. I remember when the GTR was being marketed as an 'affordable' supercar at $69k. Then I see this article the other day saying the 2017 GTR Nismo costs $100,000
more than the 2009 GTR did. What the
fuck?!
At least the Camaro and Mustang are still somewhat affordable.

Don't want this thread to turn all political but I can't believe people can afford these inflation rates...
It's too bad no American auto manfuacturer can afford to build us the cheap little two door cars and trucks guys like us love. The ones only 12 feet long with less than 200hp.

The foreign companies can build them, but can't seem to sell them. Why else would Mazda discontinue the perfectly functional 2? Not enough people wanted it.
Everyone wants a mobile living room with heated seats, navigation, 47 airbags, 4G LTE and a ton of other bloat. There was an article about the newst Civic Si vs one of the old ones. The thing that struck me most was just how goddamn BIG the new one is. Everything is huge. And expensive. Everything is keeping up with inflation except middle class incomes.

No argument. The ridiculous American image of "bigger is better" has been going on for 25+ years. No one wants to love within their means. Being conservative is becoming a bad thing.
Also: Mazda didn't discontinue the 2. They still make it. Just not for America.

This is coming from a guy who has a $30,000 go-kart. If that's your idea of 'conservative'....

Wasn't the Nismo always like 40-50k more than the base? I thought they were like $130,000 even back in 2009 for the Nismo. Which made no sense, since there wasn't a power increase, and hardly and weight savings.
Still, the base price has come up $40k. I too would like to know when $110,000 became an "affordable" sports car.

I like my heated leather seats, but other than that the only other "comforts" I want my cars to have it heat and AC. The main reason I like leather is because it is easy to maintain and easy to clean. The doesn't necessarily have to be heated, but it does make it nice when it heats up before the car reaches full operating temperature for a comfortable drive to work in the winter.
Other than that, I don't need anything special.

True true..even Tadge Jeuchter (head of the Corvette program) was complaining about the 650hp Z06. He said he wished the horsepower wars would end already. HP isn't necessary for a great car..for instance, the Corvette Grand-Sport is getting better handling reviews than the Z06 and it's 200HP weaker
