I am under the month mark now for getting this car done and I want to make it! I still need tires. I can't spend a huge amount but want something that will be decent for a couple years. Anyone have any suggestions?

I would really like to keep it 500-700, really the lower end the better but dont know if thats even possible. They are 18's, dont remember the other size but will find out tomorrow.

I have always heard good things about Continental ExtremeContact DW (summer tires) and you can usually get a set of 4 for around 500-600.

I have these.
My review, great bang for your buck. But overall I think spending more for a better tire would be worth it.
I don't regret buying them, I just wont buy them again.

Yeah, they arent the grippiest, but they are good and they wear really well, which seemed to be a concern since he wanted them, to last years.

How much did you pay, if you remember, as we both have ddr wheels.
Are they loud? What do they not do that you wish they did.

I honestly don't remember. I've had them for a few years now. But I want to say I got all 4 mounted for under $1K. Like ~$760 I think. They are 265/35/18
They are not loud, or at least not noticeable over my exhaust. They do well in the rain. They last a while, I still have decent tread on them. I've done road coarse with them, road trips, dyno runs etc.
They just are not the that sticky of a tire, when I need new ones I want that bit more traction. It is fun to slide out the rear end of a VR-4, but I shouldn't be able to do it as easily as I can with these tires.
Bottom line, they are not bad tires at all. Just not as sticky as you would like out of a performance tire.

Sumitomo HTRZ-II. Tire Rack has them in 245/40-18 for $428 a set. These are what I use on my Spyder, and they are a lot of tire for the money. Good enough to win autocrosses with. They last a while, too.
If you want a little more grip but quicker wear, the HTRZ-III in the same size is $460 a set.
^But they suck at anything above 400whp/tq.
Well we won't have to worry about that with coops car
I trust ya that they didn't work well on your car and I have broke loose with AWD but the traction seemed great, especially in the rain. I think they got 2nd place in a Car and Driver test. The next one was Dunlap but cost about 80 buck more a tire.

Every car is different.. For the money though, I'm not impressed. I'd much rather have the Nitto Invo for like $50 more per tire. It's a much better tire.
I'll check those out.
When my car was down I replaced the rear lower control arm bushings. I forgot all about it when I got the car running so now I've screwed up two of my tires. I'm tempted to get used ones from Tire Rack that match my other two but I might just have to spring for new ones.
