Ray is selling Dragpro

For those of you who don't frequent 3si anymore, I thought you would want to know that Ray is selling his car. :( Its really a shame that he is going to let this car go - not just because the car is such a beauty, but because I fear 3si will loose one of its most assets.

If anybody is intersted, the car will be sold without the engine, transmission, or turbos. For $20k, this car is still a hell of a deal. Throw in a Built 3.5, some huge turbos, and one of Supercar's dogboxes, and you'll have one of the nicest 9/low 10 second cars around.

Here is the thread on 3si:

After giving up the shop (twice), I am not totally shocked. It is still REALLY a shame for the 3s community.

Actually throw in the right turbos/3.5/dogbox and you damn better pull a low 9 or high 8 if you're light enough!

With a very good driver, I agree. With a decent track driver, I think you're looking more at mid to high 9s with a 3.5 and dogbox. Still, that's damn impressive

I know he mentioned it in another thread, I think he will be back with something else though.

You are blind not to see this coming. :(

The most amazing car I have ever seen. 3SI lost an amazing person but that's part of life.

It's wonderful that he is finally happy. He seemed miserable and worked many hours without being truly rewarded. I wish him all the luck.

20K for a body and interior? Uh, ok. My car is complete with TD05s and a built 6 speed and I'd be happy to get 10k for it.

It makes me wonder if it's some kind of joke after Nelson said he was selling one of his cars for 15k without engine and driveline.

I really do like and respect Ray for everything he's done for the platform. That being said, I wouldn't pay 20k for his car. Based on the replies in this thread alone (yes, I'm still active on 3si), people would be willing to pay that and more if they had the money.

For $20k, you're getting an immaculate car - but I'd rather spend half that to get my car to run 10's.

Its not just the body and interior, hes including the carbon/carbon clutch, FMIC, fuel system with injectors, intake mani, and the turbo manifolds.
Not nearly a complete car, but its still more than just a rolling chassis.

Not to mention the custom paint job (which probably cost a mint). Add the engine, transmission, and turbos of your choice, and you have a show-stealing car.

That paint job was over 10 grand. Those body panels aren't cheap knock offs either. Would I pay 20k for it...no way in hell, not even if I had the money. That's not saying someone won't though.

Wow...Rolling shell (mostly) shouldn't be worth much at all. He should stick a regular motor in there or something, then it might be worth the 20k since it's at least a running car.

You've gotta *really* have money to blow to spend $20k on a 3000GT shell and then have to drop another $15k+ to make it into a race car. Maybe a real NHRA dragster minus the motor might be worth it :p clutch, FMIC, fuel, etc. are worth a couple thou at best used and the paint, while expensive up front is worth another thousand bucks...otherwise it's a nicely done up shell that would be worth $6-8k without those extra items IMO. If you're going to try and milk the money out of something modded, it's gotta be a complete package.

I saw it when it was at GT Pro a couple of times, neat lookin car...wish it ran right when it was out here!

I'm glad others believe it's alot of money minus the important parts. Good luck to the great man tho. :)

I'd put a under 100K mile stock engine/tranny in it, click off a low 11/high 10 time slip, and sell it that way for $23K. fair? oh yeah turbos...

Exactly...wouldn't really click off a 10 second run, but put a fresh short block or a good motor in it with some 15Gs or something just so it's running
