Well...
Well, it messed up again today while driving it. It can't be a fuel problem then. I replaced all the filter, pump, and regulator. I also put in a new relay. Any more suggestions?
What happens is that the engine will start to sputter and it seems like it misfires, the rpms dont go up, and the Jeep just feels like it is going to stall. It has yet to stall though.
A shop said it was the fuel pump after having it for an entire day, but that can't be it since I just replaced it after they told me that.
This only happens every so often. I drove it around for about 20 min today before it started to act up.
I don't know what to do.

Re: Well...
Find a good shop.
I had a feeling it wasn't the fuel pump when you were gonna replace that but hey if you don't know any better and a shop said replace it then you were gonna do it anyway...

I am thinking about bringing it to firestone or something. I am not from around here (only lived here a few months) so I don't know of any good shops. I am thinking either firestone or Mathew's tire.
Another thing people mentioned is a Crank Position Sensor.

My only thing is that the shop said that the fuel pressure jumped around a lot. What else would cause that?

That is something else I thought too, but I am not sure how to check all of that. I have an analog voltmeter, but I am not too sure on how to use it to make sure that the wires are getting the right voltage.
Re: Well...
You should be checking fuel pressure with a gauge on the fuel rail, but your problem lies elsewhere anyway you've determined now most likely...

That is what the shop said they did. They used a gauge on the fuel rail. I wanted to do that myself, but the local autozone wouldnt let me rent one, they only offer them for sale.

Actually, I don't even know where to began on that. The whole one side of the muffler is cracked open, and where the manifold meets the down pipe is almost falling off right now. The exhaust sounds really bad and the Jeep fells like it is struggling to move forward at times. I need a new exhaust, I know that for sure, but I don't want to put all my money into that and it not be the problem. That is why I want to try other things first to make sure.

No, instead you're putting all your $$ into things that aren't the problem.

Re: Well...
But would a bad exhaust cause my problems that I am describing? Would it cause the fuel pressure to jump around and cause the XJ to randomly try to stall and not go anywhere? If so, then hell, I will cut off the exhaust tomorrow night and see how it drives.

Yes.
That's why I said that waaaaaay back when you made your first thread about it. I think I even described why a couple times too.

EDIT: Ok mono, since my exhaust is so bad, do you think that if I cut it off it will have the same effect as patching it up? I would cut my exhaust of right before the cat.

Re: Well...
I fail to see how having a hole on your exhaust would cause fuel pressure to jump around. I must have been absent the day they covered the exhaust gas fuel pressure regulation system

That is what I thought, that is kinda why I kept ignoring what mono said. I am just going to take it to a better shop and get their opinion.
Sorry Mono.

If I don't get any good help by noon on here tomorrow (or someone to back up what mono says), I am just going to take it to another shop. This has been down for way too long. I need it back really bad.
