REALLY LONG POST

Image
It is my first car. It has gone through atleast 8 different owners, and the rednecks who owned it before me jumped it in the woods and wrecked it.

The car has an R title and is completely useless to anyone but me.

The car has slowly been breaking down ever since I bought it. I have been buying parts and doing maintenance just trying to keep it running.

The worst thing that has happend was when the accessory belt broke, wraped arround my crank pully, ate through the timing belt cover, sliped under the timing belt, advanced timing, and bent all my intake valves.

Me and Stealthee put a new set of heads on and did the 60k service. There was a coolant leak and we never had time to rip it down to fix it.

There is a local mechanic who works on ferraris and other exotics. I had him fix that, but something went wrong. It was nothing but probloms the whole time he had it. He put the alternator on sideways?! , lost the busching for my front motor mount, and a number of things that I don't remember. All in all it cost me 4 grand to get the car back from him, and I had to re-do all the work that he did. This guy is a fucking retard and will never touch my car ever again.

All in all:

Performance: it has a K&N intake, 3SX Lightweight Crank Pully, Speedfreak motor mounts, and a custom 2.5" straightpipe exhaust with a 40 series single in single out flowmaster muffler.

Audio: I have Pioneer premeir components
Doors:

Tweeters:

I have two Crossfire BMF 12's in a custom black vinyl box with 4.8 cubic feet of airspace (factory specs for the subs)
Image

The amp is an older Rockford Fosgate that can't power the subs to their full potential. They can be bridged down to run at 1/4 ohms and 600 wats RMS.
Image

I never got to get a DB reading, but it could keep up with 130db cars, with this setup. The subs will flex EVERY window in the car, and make the ground arround the car vibrate.

I have a lot of awesome! ideas for the car, but not enough cash to work them all out. One day the car will be finished and still be worth nothing to anyone but me. It's just a fun project that im stuck with for the rest of my life haha.

Sorry for the ebook of a post, but this is a extremely long story shortend to just a long story. Any more questions and i'll be glad to answer them.

How the F'ing hell did he do that? Does he not understand the concept of belts? How can someone even let him near a Ferrari?

I don't know. He tried to blame it on me and stealthee, but he had to remove the alternator to get to the timing belt anyway, making him the last person to remove/install it.
Holy God those are huge subs. D A M N.
The're just 12's, but the box is friggen huge! 3 foot long, 18.5" high, and 16" deep. It's air tight and the port is vented for better sound.

If you tap one of the subs, the other flexes with it because of the air pressure. The subs blew the box apart at first, so I had to use longer screws, it blew apart again, so I got masonary screws and bolted the bitch together. Now it SLAMS.

good god
massive subs

how the fuck do you put the alternator on sideways?
does that even work? is that even POSSIBLE?
I wasn't aware that the alternator could even be ghetto rigged improperly, there's like only one possible way it fits..

Don't just use screws on the sub box... use liquid nails and screws. Either way, that box is enormous.

Alternator side ways is definitely a new one.

It's also glued, but the glue wasn't strong enough to hold it together.

The box is made out of 3/4 MDF wood too. It's heavy as FUCK!

you know what also works well?
Covering the inside seams with Dynamat
obviously there's one side of the box you can't, but if you make that the bottom side, then put the dynamat on the outside seams, it makes a nice platform.
Also eliminates almost all rattle if you had any.

I used calking to fill all the seams. It's air tight. :bigthumb:
I had plans on entering the car in sound comp. I need to get a nice set of 6x9's and a Crossfire 1000 wat amp. :D

The box is solid. It's currently being used as a table for our slot machine.

Greg? Chime in here with a pic?

he described it to me, never saw it.
Engine block, used rods for pegs, with a glass top

all obviously custom welded, but quite beautiful the way he described it.

There is a house arround here that has a block on a engine stand for a mailbox, and another house with a crankshaft for a stand and a mailbox mounted on top of it. :p
