I don't understand!

Post by Lady Helmet »

Why is my change oil alert coming on in my car?? I just had an oil change at the beginning of this month and I still have 2,000 miles to go before I need another one! It comes on every time I start my car. How do I get it to stop?

Oh, I have a 2005 Saturn Ion, if that helps.

in saturns between 95-2005 (not sure about your model) it was simply a fuse
unplug, replug, resets counter.

A lot of places, jiffy lube etc. and even sometimes at the dealership they forget to reset it.

If you unplug the battery and replug that, that works too...but it's kind of a pain with the resetting clock etc.

I can't remember which fuse it is, but if you call the dealership and speak to a service rep, they ought to tell you.

On the Internet they say, "You never get this! You never get this!" But then one day they all met in Cali and they get this.

I didn't want to bother you since you have been working on car stuff all week. I thought maybe it was something easy I could do quickly. And I only think of it when I am in my car, and you aren't usually there.

LOVE YOU!! :kisses:

Reminds me of the phone call I got from my cousin some time ago. She just got the oil changed in her car at some oil change place. That night, she called me up and said she needs another oil change because the oil light came on in her car.

Yeah, this was after she drove the car all the way home. Engine didn't turn over when I told her to go back out to the car and turn the key.

Drain plug was missing...

look throught the owners manual. Try turning the car on the 'on' position. Dont start the car. Then fully press the gas pedal 3 times in less than 5 seconds. Thats how its done on my moms trailblazer at least ;0
