You are in the minority. Also the bigger the vehicle the harder it is to reach.

Went out again today....

Test drove a 'new' 2018 Ram Big Horn because the sales person was too dumb to listen I wasn't willing to spend that kind of money. Not bad but the way FCA buries the HVAC controls into the center display is weird to me. Why put it there if it is standard HVAC and not automatic? Hemi sounds nice, and the truck gets up and moves when you hammer it.

Then drove this http://www.melraptonhonda.com/pre-owned ... 52195.html It was across the street from the Ram dealership. Felt nicer than my parents 2014 Expedition, and was nice to actually get to drive a Limited to mess with the dash ford uses in them. This one was too many miles and too high a price. I can find them with 30k miles less for basically the same price.

To shut coop up I went and drove this https://www.cars.com/vehicledetail/deta ... /overview/ was not impressed as the sales person was high as a kite or hung the fuck over and the truck was tired. The 5.3L felt sluggish and slow, the drivers seat was lop sided, and the transmission was reluctant to down shift. Still don't really like them.

Finally drove this https://www.industrymotorsonline.com/20 ... 726221.veh it is listed as sold, but they still have it :d ontknow: Basically it's mostly what I wanted my previous Explorer to be. The 20" wheels kinda ruin the ride, but otherwise it drove nicer than my old explorer. Transmission felt more responsive than my old one. Biggest concern was there seemed to be a driveline whine at about 3000rpm in 1st or 2nd gear. It was listed at $9995 and was by far the nicest of the used cars I looked at today.

Glad you gave the ram a try. Yea a 2018 would be at the top of the price range for sure. The Uconnect is pretty trick once you get into it. Did yours only have HVAC controls in the screen? Mine has it in two places. Conventional up and down buttons and the screen. How did you like the 8 speed trans? Also how large did the truck feel?

From the Jeeps I've looked at too there are definitely some things I like about Uconnect. When it has automatic climate control being integrated into the screen makes sense but the manual one just seemed weird to me. There are buttons for the controls on the dash below the screen, so you can make changes without the screen. 8spd felt unobtrusive and shifted well when I poked the throttle. It felt tall, but felt like I could see the corners better than some other full sized trucks I've driven.

Well whatever you end up buying I’m gonna find and drive. Seriously this whole thing should have been a YouTube channel. Lol.

Yea I haven’t hopped in the lower trim models so I don’t know. Glad to hear the visibility was to your liking. I like the 8 speed too. Does a great job keeping the engine in its optimum powerband.

Welp probably figured it out, spending a lot less than I had been shopping for, has a lot of miles, but will be holding off on telling everyone until I actually give the seller monies... Prepare for the disappointment...

There isn't a used car bubble

Cars are more expensive now, and unless you want a car with 100,000 miles, or that is 10 years old, you are going to pay at least $10,000, more if you want options. It's just how it is. It is IMPOSSIBLE to get a car that is $30,000 new, 2-3 years later, with 50,000 miles on it, for under $10,000, it just won't happen, not now, not ever.

There is a bubble. Sorry you don’t believe me but higher mileage cars are still worth high money and they arnt worth it. It will bust.

And I think used cars are slightly overpriced right now but far from a bubble imo.

There are limited checks on the auto loan industry unlike homes, so that will be our next bubble. They may continue to go up for a bit, but they will come down.

It's not from a manufacturer I've owned before...

And I think it's a bit of both a bubble and as Aaron said a product of new car transactions being higher than ever. People have longer terms with higher balances so it takes more money to get them out of their loans. This pushes up the cost of used cars. However I also feel there's no reason for a 100k 5 year old vehicle to hold 50% of their value.
