Customer: I need a rebuild throttle body, I will be sending in a core for you to rebuild. Need you to test the TPS, and I have a new ISC I will send with it. Also need vacuum port delete and FIAV bypass

Me: ok, here's my address...

Got the throttle body today. He wins the worse throttle body ever award, seriously after 150+ rebuild this one is the worse core I've received. The throttle plate was completely corroded to the bore. It appears that somebody tried to get it unstuck because it was severely bent into like hammock shape. The ISC "pintle" was corroded inside the port, it came out in two pieces LMAO. The TPS is done. Shaft and throttle plate are trash. Hell, I don't even know if I can salvage the housing or the FIAV (even for a bypass). He could have at least warned me about this.

Yikes.

Usable core? Ummmm, no.

I should probably get you my throttle body while I'm rebuilding the car too...

Mine does not look like that. :D

Give me about a week, I need to catch up on the rebuilds I have on the table.

Yeah, this is the reason why I buy NA cores for the cheap. If I can salvage the upper housing, I can pilfer the NA shaft/plate/FIAV and even the springs on some. However, I will be out a dashpot and spring plate.

The biggest surprise, this one was relatively easy to disassemble. I didn't have drill out a single screw. Did have to hammer out the throttle plate because of how bent it was.

Received a 96/97 TB for a rebuild that had the biss port filled with sealant. This was the third TB I've received like this. I'm going to start charging extra for sealant removal, people use that stuff on the TB gasket. And I don't bead blast the mounting surface, so I have to manual clean all that crap off.

Facebook User:

Who posted that pic of the ricey lowering clamps? I think i found a way to use them to delete wheel gap and keep my car under warranty without fkn up the ride. Id used three on each side at the top. Thats how progressive springs are made anyway. I dont wanna get springs that are not black and get them powdercoated lol.

Greg Ellingson
No you don't.

Facebook user

Its not a 3/s tho but it was posted here. In between choosing Lancer Ralliart, or Koup/Forte 5 Tubo GDi. I still rely on my dad to co-sign. Cant work right now due to health issues but i need a car. I found lots of SLs but for 5500. Id rather have a Trans am ya know? If i got the Kia then screw legit stuff lol.

oh and also it all about down payment the price and APR. Used car financing is EH. Itll be VR-4 prices.

Greg Ellingson

No bank is going to finance a car for someone who is unemployed....

Facebook user

No shit so it wont be in my name. Ive owned cars before dude. I cant get a fucking ferrari right now

Matt Riney

So no job, and you are going to buy a car and put hose clamps on the springs? Good luck with life.

Facebook user

Never said i was going to. I wanted a second look. Be judgmental, just makes you look like as asshole. Atleast i have family to support me while i go through tough times. Anything else you want to add? Since this is a 3/S page i did mention the SL yet you didnt give amy thought to how could we help this guy out. I love people like you. You crack me up

Matt Riney
You just made my day.

Facebook user
You too

Arthur Wren
Coil overs. Worth it.

Facebook User
On a Kia Koup GDiT? If i get a SL or Lancer that would be a future def yes. But any gearhead wants to tinker with what you have. If I get the Kia i just dont see spending $1500 worth it. Id just get a bov for fun and metal plumbing but thats it.

Greg Ellingson
So let me see if I got this straight. You're looking to modify a car you can't afford that your family is buying for you and you're asking if the mod is going to work?

I stand by my original comment and will also suggest that employment research should be a higher priority than car mods right now. Especially car mods that you can't afford for the car you can't buy.

Facebook User
No thats in correct. I was entertaining the thought, exactly how im entertaining the thoughts of what i can or should do with lowest cost in mind until i take over or pay back the loan. Any thing else?

Greg Ellingson
Be real with yourself and heed good advice when it's given to you.

Facebook User
I havent read any from you.

Props to Arthur Wren for being a bigger man than Greg Ellingson and Matt Riney lol. Seriously now. Anything else? Im here all week.

Greg Ellingson
I was reading rumors that Kia might also be guilty of cheating emissions in the same manner as VW. Supposedly they're going to come clean about it in the next week or two. Might want to hold off on purchasing one. Lots of VW owners are about to get screwed soon.

Facebook User
I dont drive diesel. That only applys to the TDi. Damn dude. You need to get your shit straight as well.

Greg Ellingson
I'm sorry, it was Hyundai not Kia.

Hey for a guy who is employed, owns 4 cars and is debt free, I'm not going to feel too badly about not being perfect to the guy looking to mess up a car he can't afford.
