How do we get 3si back on top

Let me let you in on a little secret. Ekool doesn't give a fuck whether or not we have great information, great forum, people happy, etc.. He wants members and advertisement money. That's why 3SI looks like a NASCAR event.

So, I doubt you can ever fix it. Learn to live with it and watch it decline as younger people have access to the platform and the older gents move on with their lives.

I help where I can. If I dont know the answer I try to point the person in the right direction. But I will not help people that dont deserve it. I don't flame unless its needed. I didn't accrue over 16,000 posts flaming people.

The only thing people can say "bad" about me is "oh noes you have teh SOHC. You don noes nothing" You would be surprised how many times someone has tried to use that one. They have nothing else to stand on.

yup I reported that speeding thread like 3 times. I was tired of viewing nothing but pointless post. Those DR, 3SX, nelson threads need some better moderation and have no reason going to 40 pages, yes still 10 post per page, and the venders need to be held accountable just like we are. If you guys are tired of seeing the same ol post then dont go in those sections anymore. I dont go in new owners part because I just couldnt take the same question being asked as the one below it. But even then I would just point how how they could figure it out. Flaming in some places if fine, like the speeding. But I belive that when it comes to info about the car then there shouldnt be any flamming....

If you were more active than just poking your head in once and a while, then people might be more interested.

And Scotty, you know as well as I do who the people are that deserve to be flamed. Alan has even said it himself that some flaming is needed. Without the flaming some people will never "straighten out".

If threads are just locked immediately, then the thread starter isnt going to know how the forum majority, ie their peers, feels about their stupidity and they will continue to post like a jack ass.

Well I think the old timers there should try to as helpful as possible with the newbies. Everyone is excited when the get a new car and wants to make it the best they can make it. We should not turn people of by bashing the newbies. A little niceness and helpfulness goes a long way at making the 3si a nicer place to visit.

Personally I'm a little burned out there but when I get started on my car again I'll get more active. The funny thing is it seems like when I have a problem not many people are at the level to help me. It maybe just that people when they get to that level of mechanical knowledge just don't want to be helpful anymore. It's like they other day when I needed information on sun roofs I got quicker better advice by going on Bawc than I did on 3si. I had to bump it in general before anyone responded. I'm not gripping 3SI has been very helpful in the past it just seems that people who know what they are talking about just don't help as much as they use to.

Eactly. People make a new tread asking how to do something, and there is a thread on the EXACT same subject on the same page. Thats why people are given so much shit. Its more than annoying.

Yeah FOG I think alot of the ppl here would of helped you there.....if they went there. Thats also a very obscure question too. I understand the car not running and not modivated.....trust me i understand. But I know I never would of gotten my car with out 3si. The guys that were from TN like JRC and Sean were kick ass when I first joined, before I got my 3/s. We all owe 3si a little something because with out it, there wouldnt be bawc.

3si gets plenty a day. If a mod has to do that every once in a while, aka after 2 yrs to save some from getting tired then wouldnt that be worth it? Ekool doesnt go though mods PM's they could be PM'ed very easly.

Heres the thing. More of the knowledgable members are leaving because of the idiots overtaking the board. I've stuck it out.

The whole reason behind TANP was because of the retarded "Noob Bashing" rule that Alan tried to come up with at one time. Once that rule was dropped due to being severely unclear, our goal changed to trying to keep noob's in check.

There was no need for a TANP when I joined in 03. I took some lumps, and I deserved them. I learned from them. If the noob's of today were more like the crew of 03, 04, 05, etc then there would be no need for TANP still.

06 is when it severely went down hill. It was Gen X that started showing up. They think they know everything, have a smart mouth and a bad attitude. Those people are not wanted on 3si.

Look at someone like Aaronatstate though. He joined in 07 and has probably never been bashed. Why? Because he doesnt post useless threads, doesn't get smart with people who are trying to help, and doesnt type in the internetz speak. He fits right in.

Thats the 3si we want. We want someone to join who is there to learn, and who listens when given advice. In order to get 3si back to being a place like that some flaming will have to take place. I can guarantee, idiot noob's have more to do with the knowledgable people leaving than any of the flaming of those same idiot noob's.

I'm kind of randomly jumping thru thoughts in my head. My whole point is, to get 3si "back on top" is going to take some work, and some elimination of problem noob's.
