Re: 5 speed....200mph
While I've only ever done 130ish in my VR-4 I also felt like it was really stable at high speeds, but that was years ago. :d ontknow:
I would have to disagree from the Stealths stand point. Ive probably done 4-5 150mph pulls back in my college years and that car felt planted on all 4 corners. 92 RT for reference.
Also a 92 RT. I'm lowered now, so it'd be better. Also I'd say the road wasn't the best for a 155mph run, so that could be part of it too
I'd say I'd try it again, but I don't really have any desire to go that fast on public roads anymore :d ontknow:

Re: 5 speed....200mph
That same Russian magazine said that at 144kph (90mph) it was 21.8lb/44.1lb F/R. At 200kph (124mph) the lift was 50.8lb/102.5lb F/R. The active aero reduced that lift to 10.6lb/-10.6lb and 24.7lb/-24.7lb respectively. So the active aero helped the VR4 feel a lot more planted as well.

I'd be much more inclined to go fast in a VR4 with all the Active Aero intact vs. a TT.

Yea, I was all stock on my rig. No bobbing or bouncing. She was planted. Probably a little more in the back, but the ratio was not far off.

So I did my same desert run in my 92 VR4 as well. My front aero wasn't working, but the ass end was very planted, almost too much. The front however was noticeably lighter compared to the stealth. I didn't like how it reacted so i never tried it again.

I won't say mine was bobbing or bouncing, but it was definitely getting lighter. Though it could all be different down, since I'm lowered, and have completely rebuilt the front suspension.

Yea, the spring rate, ride height and such could have contributed. I just felt the car creeping further down and being very tight over the bumps. I was impressed for a 150K mile sports car.

My high speed days are done I think.. both in a car and on a motorcycle. Neither which are nearly as scary as bombing down a mountain rode on a bicycle to be honest..

Don't get me wrong, I'd like to go 200mph in a car one day, just to do it. But I don't have any desire to go 200mph in my Stealth, or on public roads.

No, and I dont think anyone here wants that. Im talking about a 28hr tow to do it.
So I think I need between 600-700hp. And a better front active aero.....mine is off. Prob want some special salt flat tires as well.

Salt flat running vs. running on pavement require vastly different think. I think typically for a salt flat car you're going to need more hp to get to a given speed then on pavement.

You'll have to find a stretch that is "groomed" too if you want to go that fast. And go when it is dry.

Re: 5 speed....200mph
Yeah your best bet is to build for the Texas mile type events. You'll need more hp because of limited distance but easier/safer to hit 200 there than on the Salt flats

This. I bet if you built a 1000 crank HP 3/S, you could hit 200mph in the Texas mile. When you look at some of the dyno charts of previous 3/S's with DR1200s etc. they were still making full power at redline, and their peak torque was way high up in the rev range too. I would stay away from the salt flats. That's a very specialized kind of speed run.

Re: 5 speed....200mph
The current Ford GT has a claimed top speed of 216mph. Someone took one to a 2.7 mile long runway, and hit 210mph before shutting it down, and it still had a bit more speed in it. The current Ford GT has 647hp.

210mph with 200-250 more HP than my Stealth (BTW it was a 2G Stealth if that makes any difference).
All these years I assumed the limiting factor was drag but maybe it was just the low top end of the TD04 powered motor keeping it at bay.
