Did you ever notice they never updated the Raptor? It was the same front end from 2017 until 2020, and then they overhauled the whole truck for 2021.
Gen 14 wasn't a clean sheet redesign either. There's a lot of common sheet metal with mine. Not that that's a bad thing at all. It's just an interesting observation.

Yeah they didn’t face lift the Raptor in 2018 cause it has just been released in 2017, and they were already working on the 2021 at that point. The 2018-2020 is my favorite look of all the F150s of recent times.

That's a really good price. I've got to imagine they're gone by now.

I realized I never posted pics of the cheap Raptor wheel.
It's got some heavy scuffing around the 8-10:00 area, and the red center line is blown out. The plastic trim is scraped all to hell too. None of that really matters though. I think I'm going to get the Stitchingcover replacement leather. I really wanted one with perforated leather on the sides anyway, so this should work out nicely. I might have used the plastic trim piece if it was a 17-18 part that didn't have the Raptor text on it. Maybe I'll sell it. For now I can swap over my black textured XL trim piece. This one has adaptive cruse and some other functions I can't use, so I needed to change the buttons regardless.
The paddles are actually metal. That was a nice surprise. They feel pretty good.
It's funny. Since I bought this, the salvage yard's inventory web page has been very broken. I wonder if someone screwed up the pricing and they realized they needed to go audit some shit?

How much was it?

$75 + $30 shipping.
Cheapest used one I've seen in similar condition was ~$450. You can get brand new ones from Ford Performance for $470-500. I'm going to be well under half that when I'm done.
What's really strange is if you go to the normal Ford parts counter they're over $1000.

Wow. That's about what I paid for my "suede" gs oem wheel from summit

It's stupid how Ford does their steering wheels. You can't buy just the wheel. You have to buy it as a package with the bezel and controls. So that means there's dozens of different part numbers and corresponding price points for different trim and option combinations. It also sucks that the back cover is molded as part of the wheel. So there's pretty much no chance of retrofitting the Raptor paddles (if you could even order them) onto a non-Raptor wheel.
GM is better about letting you buy the parts individually.

That sucks. Lol. Haven't really dug into ford that much compared to gm. Modified my gm cars a hell of a lot more than my ford ones. Let's see, gm = 3 trucks, 2 cars. Ford = 1 truck, 2 cars. Grew up with gm too. Grandparents had Cadillacs or chevy. My mother usually had chevy or Buick, dad was a chevy guy too.

I just bought another wheel.

There was a stock non Raptor wheel with a starting bid of $5.00 and $19.00 shipping. The rim has a giant gash on it, but it's got a nice non-textured bezel. Threw a $15.00 bid on it just for the hell of it. I won it for $5.50.
I was going to try to fill in the Raptor text on the one I have, but now I don't need to. I think I'll try to sell it and recoup some of the cost.

You really could just buy and sell parts and make money. I bet you could even do a script that does all the searching for you.

Decided to try the fabric paint pen on a floor shift boot I picked up. It came out ok. It's more of a maroon than red. It's not as bright as the stitching on my new trim pieces. But that's probably because the part started with more of a silver grey thread instead of white. It'll do for now.

Last weekend I went ahead and put the door panels and lower dash parts in. Other than repinning the drivers door lock to work with the new switch, there was no electrical work needed. It's a nice little interim step until I can get the rest done.
I'm slowly working through documenting my harnesses so I can get all the surgery right. Still gonna be a while for that step.
