Finally said screw it and went to get them. Boy did I ever score. I don't know who does their pricing, but they're basically giving this stuff away. I got it for a bit less than what I said earlier, and I got a lot more than I planned on. I bought the dash and the HVAC control panel and they gave me the entire dash. The harness, all the control modules, the Sync system....all of it. Somebody screwed up.



This stuff isn't pristine, but for what I paid, I'm not complaining. I can hopefully recoup a big chunk of this just by selling some of the extra parts I don't need. I doubt I'll get much if anything for my stock interior, but who knows.

I got a really nice, relaxing drive out of it too. Carbondale KS is just under 90 minutes away, but it feels a lot more remote than that.

This is going to be an electrical mess. It's a good thing I like this stuff.

Here's a good example. This door panel was only available with a hole for the combination door lock and seat memory switch. So now I have door harness connector implications. That's fairly easily fixed, but then if I want to keep the memory function, now I have to see if it's even possible without adding the steering column, adjustable pedals, and mirrors.

Or I can find some way to make a dummy switch that eliminates the memory buttons. That may honestly be the way I go. I really don't care about the memory option. I just can't stand the idea of having buttons that don't do anything.

I'm also going to have some trim problems. Some of the regular cab trim parts were never available in black. Mainly the headliner and b-pillar covers. Those are problems for down the road though.

Pretty much that. For instance, I was just reading about the 4-auto transfer case upgrade. There's a 60 page thread about it. By page 18 someone had already gotten it installed and working with apparently zero wiring changes needed. So it's basically plug and play. But that didn't stop everyone else from going on and on and on about how it was a pointless mod and talking about what great drivers they were and asking the same questions over and over and blah blah blah.

Just about everything I've needed, I've gotten from skimming existing threads or the service manual. I can figure out what's left on my own.

This is really going to get tricky. The Limited body harness I bought doesn't include provisions for the electronic parking brake. It's going to take me weeks to build a custom harness out of multiple donors, so I can't use the one that's currently in my truck. I can't have it down that long.

It's not especially easy to find a 15-17 regular cab body harness that hasn't been hacked to bits. It doesn't help there's tons of variations on the regular cab harness alone. Some of which don't have the EPB, which means they're useless to me.

I can technically use other cabs, but if I'm going to be forced to buy another one, I'll get one that's already the correct size. If I get a bigger one, I have to eliminate a bunch of stuff and eyeball what's left to what I hope is the right size for my cab.

Oh well. I knew this wasn't going to happen overnight. Kinda wish I could jerry rig something to get the seat motors working in the meantime though.

Scope creep is so, so real.

The base power seats would be pretty easy to install without major harness work. They just need power and ground for the most part. But since mine are power, memory seats, there's additional power for the control module, and CAN bus implications. I could maybe jerry rig something until I can do it right, but I'm not sure it's worth the effort involved. That wouldn't even get the heating and cooling working. Only the adjustment motors.
