Yeah. Since I’m this far I’m tempted to make it fit just to see what I would have to do. Maybe drill out the hole more, it’s 1/2 inch hole so drill it to 3/4th and then get a 1/2 bung and weld it in where I need it. Something like that would be the easiest but also pisses me off over 1/4 an inch. I have a real deal drill press from a shop that closed so I could drill these out quickly. Then have a buddy weld them up after I tack it.

Honestly, if I did brakes, I would likely just get something I can bolt on and know it'll work and not have to worry about anything. Probably one of the StopTech kits.

My viper design is bolt on, and it gets you 350x32mm rotors. So basically the same as the first step of StopTech (355x32mm). And the price is significantly less. All you have to do is "flip" the caliper, i.e. move the bleeders and crossover tube to the opposite sides.

It can vary for sure, but you can get used Viper Calipers for ~$500 used on eBay, or for ~$300/caliper new from Mopar. From what I found in my research the rears are the same as the fronts, but I'd stick with the fronts to be safe as I can confirm those work for sure.

Brackets would be $200-$300 depending on machine shop/material used (I used T6 aircraft grade aluminum).

Pads and rotors can vary greatly, so I won't give a ballpark on those. But as the brackets are designed right now you have to use the EvoX front rotor which is 350x32mm.

If you have another rotor in mind (GT500 for example), I can adapt the brackets to fit that rotor, but I would suggest 3D printing to test fit first, before having metal cut.

Oh also as an FYI, the Viper calipers are the exact caliper that comes in the Brembo 4 piston big brake kit. That kit just comes with 2 piece 355x32mm rotors that are made to clear 18" stock wheels instead of having to run a spacer with 18" stock wheels.

Want to put together a separate thread about it? I might be interested but would like to see some examples, feedback, and overall cost comparisons. I haven't driven my TTs in a while, but eventually I want to get back to it.

Finally got the other knuckle powder coated. Are these bearings press in? They seriously were a pain to get out. Freeze them maybe?

I still need to address a cv boot that’s ripped, so I will prob order a new half shaft tomorrow. Need to put some paint on the hub so it doesn’t rust like the other ones. Even if it’s some
Paint, it will be better than nothing. Need to chase the threads to remove powder and dirt out of the knuckle, need to get new bearing in, tear apart old knuckle (which I hate has I usually end up fucking something up with that fork), then reassembly, and eventually an alignment.

Yeah, can try freezing the bearing to make it easier to press in. I haven't done one myself, but that's something I would try.

Yeah freeze the bearing, and heat the knuckle.

How hot we talking on the knuckle, 100 degrees? 150? I can heat it up to about 400 but then can’t really touch it. lol.


Is it just gonna slide in at that point or will I still need to use the bolts to “help” it in?

I'd say getting the bearing below 0F is more important than getting the housing super hot but I'd aim for 150-250F for thr housing

Powder coat came out really well. I can’t find a spot I’m unhappy with.


But this is what I’m upset about, this hub is 4/5 yrs old. Yes it was drove in the rain but never winter or salt.


So got a little primer/epoxy paint and painted up the new mitsu oem hub.


I test fitted the hub and it will only need freezing. It almost dropped in without being cold so tomorrow morning I will put it in a ziplock bag to go in the freezer for 24 hours. Sunday I will install.
