Ugh that's why I don't like bug guards and sunroof wind deflectors. They almost always damaged the paint.
Re: Let's try Ford now.
They make some nice ones. that just stick and then seal off the paint from damage. I put one on my truck when i first bought it. Figured a little extra "chrome" would help spice things up.

Sell the Vette and get that
Re: Let's try Ford now.
That whole front end has been repainted. Doesnt quite match the side panels. Also Xl's didnt come with color matched bumpers right?

Re: Let's try Ford now.
What would I do with an 850hp truck? I've got traction problems at 325hp.
I really need to find out if this thing has a tune on it.

Re: Let's try Ford now.
Been spending a lot of time reading technical info on Russian forums. I just thought that was a funny picture.
I actually have been doing something though. I've been sitting on my Sync upgrade while I get around to messing with those harnesses I bought. Except that I haven't been getting around to it at all. Way too much scope creep. So I may just half-ass it for now. I originally thought I'd have to do a bunch of wiring work or use a janky jumper harness to get it to work with my current dash harness. There's SO much contradictory stuff out there on this topic. I finally went to the source, compared the actual 2017 F150 specific diagrams, and realized I only have to move a handful of pins around on the connector. So I think I'm going to do that.
It also helps that I got lucky and picked up another Sync module out of a 2017 Lincoln MKZ. I originally went to the junkyard to get some interior lights. It had been sitting for a few days, and nobody had grabbed it. So I got a nice Sync 3 module for $40.
Now I can keep my 2019 Sync module set aside for some additional tinkering.
I got it up and running on my desk and updated it to 3.4 last night. I need to jailbreak it next.

Re: Let's try Ford now.
I like how the GPS defaults to Dearborn
I debated upgrading to Sync 3.4 in my RS, but honestly, I basically use CarPlay all the time, and only go into Sync to change audio sources. I did change the graphics to the Ford GT graphics which are way nicer, so with all that, I decided to stay with standard Sync 3. The only thing I wish I could change was to have the RS boost screen on Sync, but you can't have that if you change to the Ford GT graphics, which is annoying.

It's not just Dearborn. It's Ford HQ, right where I took those pics of my truck back in Feb.
I upgraded just because I could. The skins are a little cleaner too. It was a piece of cake with the Cyan Labs updater. It's a little scary though. It has to reformat the older units to make them compatible with Sync 3.4. That's why it was nice to do it on my desk instead of sitting in the truck.
I'll check around the jailbreak mods. There might be a way to put the boost gauge on the GT theme.

Re: Let's try Ford now.
I didn't develop any of it. I just read how to use the tools and plugged a USB drive in.
I DID jailbreak the GM system on my own. But I haven't done shit with that since I've been distracted with all this Ford stuff.

Cyan Labs is what I was gonna do for the RS too. I may still do it when my extended warranty is up. There were some stories of warranties being voided because of the sync 3.4 upgrade.Jeff V. wrote: ↑Thu Jun 13, 2024 3:45 pm It's not just Dearborn. Re: Let's try Ford now.
There was a series of APIM failures in some sync3 systems so Ford bumped the warranty on them but if you forced Sync3.4 on the system they denied the APIM replacement.aaronatstate wrote: ↑Thu Jun 13, 2024 4:42 pmCyan Labs is what I was gonna do for the RS too. When I did the sync upgrade on my old truck I jumped all the way to 3.4 with the most current 3.4 APIM because I wanted the most stable version. While there are some updates between 3 and 3.4 I'm not sure how worth while it is without the associated hardware upgrades they did too.

Yeah and the fact I use CarPlay, and listen to satellite radio almost exclusively, I don't really see the point in upgrading to 3.4 other than to just do it.
