Complete I would think it's worth less than $30k (upper 20s). It's a cool and custom car, but it's still used...been busted a half dozen times by various people, and it's a used old car. Did it ever really get many consecutive passes down the track without something breaking? Brian could never get it straightened out due to whatever "the owner" excuse he had that day and it took Ray quite a bit to even get it to run right...

Used parts are used parts, whether they are on drag pro or any other 3/S. If this was a Matt Monet car it'd be running low 11s/high 10s...have a new shortblock, plenty of other mods, and be in good shape for $20k. So you're paying for a custom interior/exterior and old (albeit good looking) paint.

but this is just fucking depressing.[/quote]

Stop over dramatising Avi. ;) Life goes on. Ray isn't dead. Were you actually counting on Ray to get your machine going quicker? While he's out of the 3/S game, he didn't sign divorce papers and take out proximity warrant. I'm sure you could organise a tuning day with a bunch of members for when it suits Ray. ;)

But Mike, you always come to the defense of 3sx, which is why everyone calls YOU a nutswinger. It's really easy to throw that term around. Hell, I do it damn near every day.

it is fucking depressing. one of the most respected and revered members of the 3si community just dropped his car off to someone who won't appreciate it nearly enough. There isn't a single person that should own that car except him, in my humble opinion.

It's things like this that really prove to me, my platform is dying. and it's fucking depressing because I hate it when people say "3si is gonna be only a ricer/noob platform in a year or two"

it sucks.

Just means you have a fixation on swinging nuts, a mental picture stuck in your head if you will.

You know what's funny about that? The car was built over the course of 2 years by GT Pro and Mike Tucker. (I think that was his name). They never got it running right because eventually Tucker got bored with it and stopped paying Brian and Co to work on it.

I wish I had that much money to piss away and "get bored" with.

In any case, Ray fixed the car up and did some cool shit to it, but it's hardly his creation.
I think about all the things we could have done, all the miracles we could have achieved, if we were all just a little bit better than it turns out we are.

I saw it a handful of times at GTPro...a lot more work went into it there than at Ray's shop. Ray swapped some drivetrain parts around. The creation and idea and 75% of the parts come from GT Pro like Gate said

I believe a lot of work was done to unGTPRo it.

 Oh, I'm sure of it...probably 2/3rds of the drivetrain. From the pictures, the rest of the car looks about the same.

I've always known that the platform was slowly diminishing, but it just saddens me when one of the kingpins leaves. I always admired that car, but I think losing him is a big blow to us non-rice 3/s bearers.

You'll be happy to know that in the 3si thread he has since said that Ray is not leaving the platform. He wants to just sell this car and move on to something BPU and daily drivable.

This isn't the first time Ray left the platform. If you weren't all a bunch of newb's you'd know that. :p

I can't wait until I get to see a 4.5L 3S (if that ever happens).

Now that I didn't know about. Damn! That one is crazy.

Ray selling his car for a clean slate 3S was long and coming unforunetly, but I had no idea that car was going to be parted out. :(
